The Remington Model 11 is a John Browning design that was licensed to the Remington company. It is a copy of the Browning Auto 5 and is a recoil operated automatic .

It's funtioning with different load levels is controled by the placement of the friction ring and collar that ride on the outer diameter of the magazine tube.

They were a well designed and manufactured firearm.

ps: They were manufactured from 1905 until 1847 for a more detailed history go to the Remington web site and look up the history of the model there.

How to set the friction rings for light & heavy loads.

The Model 11 appears slightly different, but the principal is the same.

You can further fine-tune the amount of friction by using oil on the magazine tube, or not.

And the Savage 720 was a licensed-built Remington Model 11, making is something of a Browning A5 once removed...
