I have a Colt Trooper MKIII 357M 6" bbl blued handgun with Pachmayr grips that came to me via numerous trades. It has adjustable Millet rear sight with red inset front blade. There is about a 3/16-1/4" holster wear spot on both sides of the barrel end and some light wear on the cylinder crowns, obvious carry marks. The rest of the blue is beautiful. I would put it at 90-95%%if that were all. Someone drilled a small mounting hole in the top strap to mount a scope. A plug screw would render it only slightly noticeable. Associated with that hole is a faint circular mar where the scope mount was twisted on. I'm guessing $400+ but would like input. Thanks.

The local pawn shop has one nearly identical for $399(original grips and no scope mount setup) that has been out for about a month. I considered it but declined, it didn't pass the March Revolver test to my satisfaction. I have the 4 inch version and the one at the shop didn't lock up as tight as the 4 I have, it just didn't feel right when locked up so I passed.

I bought mine a few weeks ago for $300. It is perfect except for a very tiny scratch. Mine is the Mark III Trooper 6" also. $400 is high I think and I am in South Florida where gun prices are high in general.

For a blued Trooper, $400 for a mint one is about all they bring--which is a shame because they are a very good gun. I have a Peacekeeper, which is a variation on the Trooper, and my gun is extremely accurate and absolutely reliable. I'd keep the gun as an excellent all around defensive gun.

IMO the Trooper Mk III is a $350 gun in good shape. Most people think it's worth more and I see them selling for $500+. This one you describe is missing the original stocks, has replaced and modified sights, and has holes drilled in it.

To me this is a $250 gun. I am sure it would sell for $350-$400 but not to me. For $400 I start looking for something better.

You have to decide what it's worth to you.

I paid right at $350 for mine a while back. I don't think yours would sell for $400 in the condition you desribed. But, then, I have been wrong before.

Trooper MkIIIs are quite desireable and will fetch a premium when you can find 'em. I wouldn't let mine go for under $500. . !

I believe the $400 prices mentioned here are bargains and I'll buy a clean one (read "as-new") for that any day of the week if I have the funds. They will (and are) going up in value. Even more importantly, they are well made and very good shooting 357's. My favorite 357 shooter is a 6" Trooper Mark III and I would like to have a 4" to go with it.

I don't know the price of the OP's Mark III, but with the changes and wear it is not worth what an as-new one goes for. Prices are not uncommon in the $450 or a little more range for nice ones. As a result and without seeing this gun, I think it's a $350 gun at best. It is probably a great shooter and I would approach the purchase as such. For me all 90-95% guns are shooters unless they are very uncommon and a Trooper Mark III in 357 is not uncommon.

loneviking, I think your Colt Peacekeeper is a version of the later Colt MKV. Colt didn't make a Peacekeeper model of the MKIII.

I agree that the Peacekeeper is a fun (and unusual) Colt DA revolver.

Starter 52, yep, you're more observant than me and supposedly the Peacekeeper is a Trooper Mk 5. I swear my gun looks more like an Anaconda than a Trooper, so I'll have to take their word for it!
