A magnificent site! My 2 Uberti 1860"Armys" and 1 Pietta 1858 Remington will not add anything new, so I won't put them on. My thanks to the owners who have so well presented their weapons for our enjoyment.
.54cal Lyman GPR kit; six coats of BLO on whatever type walnut it is; barrel & funiture rusted with a combo of bleach, water and cold blue followed by more bleach... still a work in progress.
That dubble is a nice one, that is something that I want to get one of these days...

There are some terrific photos of wonderful guns here. But for my sanity, please don't post your images in mammoth megapixel sizes that can't be seen on my tiny screen. Thanks.
hahahah nice pictures. i like the lemat. how is that to shoot
The LeMat has it's intricacies. The loading lever is on the side of the frame. The ram rod for the center barrel is in the lever handle and well come out on recoil. A slight bend in the ram rod stops that. The spring latch that holds the lever looks very fragile, but has held up so far. The hammer has a very short fall to the center barrel cap, I file/sand the cap thinner for better ignition, so far that has worked. To fire the center barrel you have to flip the nose of the hammer down. It was awkward at first but I'm much more comfortable with it now.
I'm loading 30grs under a 451 rb, the center barrel well take a patched 65cal rb or shot. That's ten rounds loaded. It was the EBR of it's day. A mounted man with two of these would have been devastating to a line of men. From what I have read the center barrel was normally loaded with buck shot and used at point blank range.

This is a left hand Dixie Tennessee Mountain Rifle that was restocked as a Pennsylvania rifle by George Dech. I bought it used at Dixon's last year.

Thanks so much! He was VERY proud of the work he did, especially that Hawken and Smooth Rifle. Now they are mine to be very very proud of and I am. The are priceless family heirlooms now. Took the smooth rifle and the Hawken out a couple weeks ago and let them speak a bit.
Yesterday I went to the range and took the D. Powell pistol to burn some powder in as it hadn't been out in a while. That's always a fun one to shoot and not easy at all. It's my biggest dilema when going to the range, which and how many I'm taking and how to keep the cleaning down, LOL!:)
