Saw an HK Expert today - looks like a killer target gun. If you've shot one of these or own one currently, please post your opinions on this gun.

How long does the O-ring last?

I've got an Expert 45. It's 2 years old & has about 4000 rounds through it. It is worth every penny! I'm still on my original o-ring. I clean it as usual w/ MPro7 and lube it very lightly w/ Militec & it seems to be good as new.
I have noticed a difference between my other USPs.

Just let me know when you want to run some ammo through it. As a matter of fact, I have the urge to hit Reeds in about 30 minutes... ;)

It is worth every penny!

That's 135,000 of them! :D

I shot 10-ring's a few months ago. It's a great gun, my peeves with it is the sight cut is different from the USP so if you want Novaks or the Entreprise Ghost Rings or Heinies or even Trijicons, forget it. AFAIK the Meprolight nightsights are the only sights available for it.

Nice trigger out of the box. Nice fit and finish, and there's the pride of ownership (highly subjective) that normally doesn't come with pla..er..space-age technopolymer pistols.

If I weren't competing with my Elite II in Production class, I'd probably get one for Limited 10.

Just shot larry's - VERY soft shooting gun. He has a red-dot on it for bullseye... claims that his does 1-shot groups at 25 yards!

:what:

So many guns, so little money... must... prioritize!

Well, he's using a ransom rest for those groups - so no measure of the man, more a measure of the gun.

No Ransom rest, that's done on bags: a minor measure of the gun, but mostly the expertly loaded ammo. :D

I had an Expert and sold it for a Tactical, which is basically the same sights, trigger and o-ring as the Expert but with the standard USP slide and the threaded barrel. Shot it for a while with a CCF "vortex" flash suppressor - very cool looking. Then the Gemtech suppressor came in which was even better.

The other thing I like about the Tactical over the Expert is the sight cuts are standard USP vs. the Expert where the adjustable sight has been "buried". Makes it easier to pop in fixed night sights (but hell to see over the suppressor!).

The Expert was good, but I like my Tactical even better. Even if I didn't have a can, I would still prefer the Tac.

Sven,

my Expert is 2 years old and I have had no problems/failures up to date.
It is a very accurate gun, but has

-) a BIG grip and
-) the magazine release is under the trigger guard, so repositioning the shooting hand to release the magazine could be required!

The O-Ring is fine after 3000 rounds and several more were included with the pistol.

And contrary to MrPink I like the sunken sights as they are nearer to the slide and thus easier to aquire.

I find it easy to use my index finger to release the magazine without re-positioning the gun. if you choose to use your thumb to release the mag then yeah you need to re-position.
