Hey, I am looking for a Kahr P9 Covert and the cheapest the seem to be running is right at $500 used.

I can buy a Kahr CW9 brand new for $359 from Larry's in Huntsville. I don't see why I couldnt buy the CW9 and cut 1/2" off the bottom grip and use the 6 round PM mags. Does anyone know if this would work.

I am thinking use a high speed band saw and then some sandpaper to re-chamfer the base of the grip. Are there any parts in the way? It doesn't look like there is a mainspring or anything running in the grip that would hinder doing this. Please advise!

I'm NOT really up on the polymer Kahr's, but I see no reason why you can't cut the grip off.

Before cutting, make SURE there isn't anything down there like a magazine catch spring or ???.

I would NOT use any power tooling to do the cut.
Plastics tend to melt if fast cutting power tools are used, so I'd recommend a small, very fine tooth hand saw.

Same goes for sanding the cut. Use fine sand cloth by hand, and if you use a power tool like a Dremel with a sanding drum, work SLOW at lower speeds.

Thanks, found some threads on Glock Talk where people have done this. They say it works great. Basically make you a cheap p9 covert.
