What is the most accurate rifle...

that fires a .308 cartridge? Also can someone post a ranking of the power from highest to lowest? I imagine .50 BMG would be highest and .22 would be lowest. I would appreciate it if someone would fill in the between calibers. Thanks in advance.

Its the British LA1 (?) bolt action. One inch groups at 300 meters or better! For those with a budget a Remington bullbarrel 700 is hard to beat.

there are just way too many cartridges to put a comprehensive list up, in order of power, of them.
if you grab a loading manual, the more common cartridges are listed in order of power (usually) in each bullet size.

The one you practice with.

HBK,
I fear you are operating under some misconceptions about rifles and calibers. Caliber itself isn't enough to rank accuracy. You seem to have left out the load, weight/design of bullet, intended target, ranges, wind and climate conditions, plus a few dozen other factors before we get to each rifle, barrel, length, trigger, floated-or not, and then on...

I imagine the most accurate .308 was the last one that a bench rest shooter won with.
The caliber question must be a joke.

I don't get it either. It's like saying, "Who's stronger, the Incredible Hulk or Superman?"
Accuracy is a fleeting thing. One might hit the lottery and shoot a perfect group at 300 yards where all three rounds enter the same hole. That would be the most accurate rifle, for that group.
For true accuracy, Benchrest rifles are the benchmark (pun intended) for accuracy. Few competitors use the .308.
The answers to your questions do not exist. I suggest you rethink what you are wanting to know and limit the scope of your question. You have a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips here, literally. Use it wisely.
So, this dude goes to heavan, right? He gets past St. Peter, you know, and walks right up to God. God's got on this cool Harley Davidson coat and wearing Sunglasses like he's the Terminator or something. Anyway, he taps the Almighty on the shoulder. God turns around and says, "Yeah, what do you want?" So the dude thinks about it a second and says, "God, can you explain women to me?" Wait. Oh, I forget the rest.

I thought you could rank calibers. Like from weakest to strongest. .22, .233, 30-30, .308, 30-06, .50. I guess I DO have some misconceptions about rifles.:(

You can. But I don't think anyone is going to do it for you as there are hundreds or even thousands of them.

There is no strong or weak involved. Caliber (diameter of the bore) is one of many factors such as velocity, bullet weight, bullet construction, etc. To make a comprehensive list would take years and nobody would agree. The most powerful rifle cartridge (legal) is likely the 50BMG and the least powerful is probably the .22 short. Inbetween you have a myriad of loads, manufacturers, etc. Add to that the fact that two identical guns will shoot different velocities and you're going to be spun for a loop. Again, there is no answer to your question. Of conventional common calibers, one could say that we'd go from 22lr to .223 to 243 to 30-06 to 338 magnum to 375H&H Magnum, to 458WinMag. Even here, we'll have somebody chime in saying that the 338 is more powerful than the 375, and he'd be RIGHT in some cases.

Go to Borders, Barnes and Noble or another book shop and just about any reloading manual will rank cartridges from weakest to strongest in its respective caliber. Same goes for accuracy. That will give you a general idea.
The magical thing about the internet is how much you can learn on your own by entering a very general search query.
An example would be go to google (http://www.google.com) and search for "powerful caliber rifles" or "weak caliber rifles" or "caliber power chart"
When asking people it is better to narrow the focus and ask about very specific preferences or opinions.

SelfProclaimedExpert,
No you can't. This is too general of a question. There are millions of permutations.

There won't even be agreement on what the "most powerful" round is between just two different calibers. Some folks just look at ft-lbs of energy, which is fairly simple equation of mass and velocity. Others take in factors such as diameter of the bullet.
Ever heard of "TKO"?
This also doesn't take into account bullet construction. There have been some fairly powerful rounds that have been largely uneffective, due to shape and construction. Here is one: http://www.spanamwar.com/lee.htm
There are lots of wildcats and obsolescent cartridges out there, too...

a .22 at 50 yards is more accurate then a 50 bmg at the same range because it cuts smaller holes. :D But some ammo types are inherently more accurate than others and not because some cut smaller holes in paper.
