I need a measurement

I'm having problems with .223 sometimes failing to chamber in my Savage bolt action. By this I mean they sorta jam up from the magazine to the throat. I hafta get em' started by hand then they slide in nicely. It's as though they are hanging up on something. The rounds are 62g HP at 2.220 COL. Too short? Not every one, maybe 1 in 20 or so but it's frustrating. Since I reload I don't have any factory ammo on hand. Can someone tell me the COL of a .223 55g FMJ, 55g SP and 62g HP? Not the do not exceed length but what they measure out of a factory box. Thanks.

Factory COL doen`t matter the COL with the bullet you are loading is what you need. Did the manual you took your data from offer the lenght they developed the data from? Speer, Lyman, Sierra, Hodgdon, and I believe Hornady do.
The feeding often can be affected by the shape of the ogive. Different manufactures bullets offer slightly different shapes even in the same style of bullet. If changeing to the recommend COL in the book doesn`t help I`d call the bullet makers tech line and talk to them. They all offer toll free services. Then again it might be a rifle problem
