Working up loads for the new gun. Bisley framed .44 Magnum Hunter Model..with a Leupold 2.5X8 sight.

After dialing it in at 240 yards...and repainting the gong....
This is what 50 rounds did:)

The goal is 300 yards with some consistancy....Personal challenge of mine....

That's fun. I been shooting at a steel plate at 225 yards with my Colt SAA 44 spl and hit it 1 or 2 times out of 5 shots with iron sights. The misses are close.

Took me a summer's worth of shooting but I could hit a 10 inch gong at 300 yards a couple of times from each cylinder full with an iron sighted .41 Bisley unsupported. Once you dial yourself in it's not real hard and like the other poster said misses are close. Best to shoot when it's dry so the clouds of dust will mark your misses.

Good shootin!

We used a Vaquero in 45 Colt tossing Winchester's "cowboy" loads to bang 8" trees at 220 to 230 yards.
The creek was overflowing so we put the rounds into the trunks where they came out of the water. We were able to call a splash on the trunk as a hit.
Granted, the low velocity left only slightly more energy than throwing rocks but that just meant we weren't going to cut the trees in half any time soon. :D

For some silly reason I've taken up long range pistol work lately. My Encore barrel collection seems to be growing.
