I got my M40 from CDNN today, and when I checked the serial number I was very surprised to see how low it was (0026xx). I can see that it has the trigger update, but how can I tell if it has the extractor update? (Or does this SN not need that update?)

BTW, I bought this gun without being able to first hold one, and I'm happy to say that it fits my hand very well. I was a little worried because the SA XD40's handle felt a little small to me, and I think that gun is about the size of the M40. The sights look great, and the gun has a good weight/balance to it...can't wait to shoot it!

Have you shot it yet???

Very curious on this one too----have a Steyr .40 on lay-a-way with a low SN and no trigger upgrade---dry fired it in store and it seems ok to me. This one is kinda cool in that it uses a handcuff key instead of the 2-pronged one for the internal safety.

I would contact Diamond Shooters Supply. They are doing the warranty work for Steyr M series handguns.

My M9 is a low serial with the trigger update. The extractor is not a huge deal really, just every now and then drops a peice of brass on your head, doesn't hurt. I was under the impression that the angle of the extraction port was different and that an extractor upgrade was not an option on the older models. Let us know what you end up finding out.

The serial number on my M9 is over 20XXX. It still tosses some brass on the top of my head.
