The title says it all. I'm looking for something in ~ 9mm that is small, easily concealable, and importantly, fun to shoot. $500 or so (new) or so would be a bonus.

Maybe the Kahr MK9? I had a PM9, but I'd consider it too much of a firecracker to be fun. The vids I've seen of that Springfield EMP look like they're having fun.

The most fun I've had shooting a subcompact was actually a Beretta Bobcat 21A in .22LR.

A Keltec PF-9 is a bit of a handful, but not too bad. If you get one that runs good!

I forgot about the G26. It's pushing the limits of "subcompact", but it's definitely easy to shoot, and can be converted to shoot rimfire. Good call, CountGlockula.

I don't have many rounds through it yet (hoping to fix that tomorrow), but I have a new Kel Tec PF-9. I am giving my P3AT to my future son in law, and upgraded. I can't believe how much easier it is for me to control the PF-9 over the P3AT. It comes right back down to the proper sight picture every time. I have to see what it is like for lots of rounds though, before I say it is fun to shoot. But it is great for concealed carry in my front pocket.

+1 PF9. As long as you get an R4### or later serial number, should be good to go.

Glock 26.

+1 on the G26.

I really like the XD9 SC. It is a bunch of fun to shoot and hits where it is pointed.

The XD SC was nice... but I just shot the Glock 26 for the first time the other day, and have to say its on my "need to buy" list.

+1, my wife's XDsc9 is fun to shoot and pretty accurate.

the g26, with an extended magazine so your pinky finger has a place to be. I would put it up against any kahr for accuracy! Like they say "perfection"

Glock 26!

You can fit the bigger Glock 9mm mags in it, too. It comes stock with 10 round mags, but you can throw in the 15, 17 and 33 round Glock 9mm mags in!

When I bought my PM9 I had a Hogue Handall slipon grip installed. Ran about $12 at the time. I found I could shoot +P and +P+ loads without pain, though the +P+ 's left my palm sore after about 30 rounds. Recoil tended to come straight back, so follow up shots were easy. Regular 9mm loads were a piece of cake. Great performance out of such a lightweight gun.

The first sub compact I liked to shoot was the Glock 26 w/ 33 round mags...

How about the Taurus Mil-Pro 111? I have a Mil-Pro 40 and it is an absolute joy to shoot, tames recoil, plenty accurate, feels great in my hand, good ergo's. Plus, Taurus is priced pretty good, you can probably get one for $375 out the door.

My P-11 is a pleasure to shoot with a slip-on rubber grip thingy.

Walther P-22. ;) I hear the Ruger LCP is also a neat little shooter.

Has Keltec changed something on the PF-9? Last I heard it was almost painful to shoot.

also look into the glock 26 sc, light weight and 9mm, and with a perce grip extenstion they are g2g

Glock Model 39.
Less snap than any of the other Glock subcompacts (Models 26/27/33).

You have to try the XD-9sc, everytime I shoot it I like it more and more ... and it's my wife's gun.

XD 9 or 40 in SC. Great fun. Much preferable to the brick body style of GLock.

With normal loadings it's quite easy to shoot. I've found it easier to shoot and shoot well, than a full sized Beretta 92. YMMV.

I enjoy shooting my HK P2000SK. It"s recoil is easy enough to be a "all day at the range" kind of gun. The HK P7 is another compact that always puts a smile on my face.

Another vote here for the XD 9 subcompact. I just got one, I carry it daily and I also use it for IDPA. It's every bit as accurate to 25 yards as my 4" XD service (in .45). I can hold 3" groups at 15 yards with either of them.

Another vote for the XD9SC. So much better than the XD40SC. And it carries great in a Crossbreed Supertuck.

i didn't like how my XDsc concealed because i was printing no matter what, but my god that is one accurate pistol (if you don't mind a long trigger reset). now i happily carry a kahr but i don't shoot as well with it. if you can conceal the xd i would go with that over the G26.

I have a Kahr CW9. I see others have already mentioned other Kahr 9mm handguns. I REALLY enjoy shooting my CW9. Just my $.02 :D
