On Monday, 12 suspected Taliban insurgents ambushed and killed nine policemen near Kharwar in Logar province, about 56 miles south of Kabul, regional commander Hatiqulluh Luddin said.

TheeBadOne--I'll freely admit that THESE cops are at war. An army is actually targeting them for death, and is attacking in large numbers. So I would certainly excuse them if they get a little trigger happy.

What if they were attacking them in small numbers? :confused:

Presumably, if a few criminals tried to attack a large group of police officers, the cops would be able to win the fight easily. No need to declare war on anyone.

How about a few criminals attacking one cop (the ususal one man squad), or even 2 cops? this gets back to your 1st reply "actually targeting them for death, and is attacking in large numbers". What constitutes a "large number", and how is that different than being targeted and killed by a 'small number'?
