Doesn't a large part of the cost we end up paying for guns go to these companies so they can pay their lawyers/insurance?

I would think that if a similar act passed that said doctors couldn't be sued that healthcare would get alot cheaper.

Lawsuits against gun manufacturers are a relatively recent phenomenon, if I'm not mistaken. They started in the late 90's riding on a wave of do-gooder hysteria that led to suits against tobacco companies and any other monied group perceived as vulnerable. So no, I don't think prices will drop.

If the 94 crime bill sunsets next year, we may see a drop in prices of guns that have the Five Deadly Features, along with a drop in price of full magazines, and maybe a slight drop in all semi-auto rifles & shotguns.

I'm not sure how large a part of the cost of a firearm it is, but am reasonably sure firearm prices aren't going down in the foreseeable future, and wouldn't go down even if the leftists abandoned all their efforts to disarm law-abiding American citizens.

I doubt it. It seems to me that if the cost of making guns goes down they will charge the same amount and increase their profits.

I doubt any firearm will get cheaper..The anti's are slowly getting their way even if no new laws jump up. Simple and pure atrrition. There are less shooters, less hunters, and there is a finite market place.

Let's face it..Most of us here take care of our firearms..They will last a life time. I have several 22' rifles for example. It just my and my daughter who shoots with me..Not need to buy anything new as what I have works well and nothing jumps out that even call to my ego " I have to have it" syndrom..

So the manufacturers dilema is how do I move new product?...Their advertising has been reduced to sport magazines and not main stream as in the thirties and fifities..Televeision adds are restricted to the one or two sport channels and to limited shows..Hyping self defense is a no, no as that means it opens up the lawsuit angle of promoting a dangerous product, etc, etc....

WE're a dying breed folks...Even our children are being blasted and punished for playing any sillly cops and robbers etc game, except for the vidio stuff which is a whole other can of worms..

The solution?...I not sure we can fix it...I drag as many people that are willing to the range..Youg kids, their fathers, friends. Hoping that a seed will be planted and grow..But the limited ranges the costs of shooting and the competition from the idiot box and other things ..Just not enough of us to expose the lies and falsehoods and the shire fun of shoting..

Well enough rant...Be safe.
