Hi all, I cast some bullets the other day and when crimping into cannalure my OAL is 1.540. I know the book says 1.600 oal. Its a new mold from Lee. My Lyman mold when crimped are at 1.580. RNFP store bought bullets oal is around 1.575. All these are 250gr lead RNFP 45LC. Do you think that having the ones I just did at 1.540 oal will cause any issues with a lever action rifle? Or anything else for that matter. They do seem to cycle normally. Thanks all, Bob

I assume you are not loading them as high-pressure hunting loads or anything?
If they Feed Fire & Function Freely in your lever-gun, they should be fine.

thanks for the reply. No, not hunting loads. I use 300 gr hollowpoints there. These will mostly be loaded at 8 grs Unique. I melted down old wheel weights and use them for plinking in my rugers and rossi rifle. At the cost of 45LC ammo at the local shops, it would not affordable to plink as often as I do. Thanks again. Although I load all my LC to an OAL of 1.580, I've shot hundreds of rounds of factory ammo through my '92 with an OAL of considerably less than 1.580. Never had a problem with the ammo. The rifle, OTOH, went to Steve's Gunz for some nice action work. :)
