Who here has seen it? What do you think of it? Would you consider it or its gunplay somewhat realistic? Do you like the themes in it?

I think it has some holes, but its still one of the best movies I've seen in a while.

Ever since I signed up for Netflix, I've been watching lots of movies.

Got it for $9.99 at the BestBuy.Thought what the heck we'll see.Overall not a total waste of time.An enjoyable gun-play movie that doesn't make you have to think to hard or deep.I can say that I've paid more for worst.:D

Okay I guess. Doesn't take itself too seriously. Once again, the Desert Eagle features itself prominently. Usually, I think the more a DE is featured, the worse the movie is.

I loved it...thought most of the scenes were realistic...

SPOILER!!!!!

The scene I liked the most was their first encounter with the Wolf...because it showed that even kick-butt guys can miss.

The only one that wasn't realistic was the one where they were hanging from the ceiling by the rope, 10-ringing folks..pretty sure I couldn't do that...

but great filmmaking

Notice the boys lost the Desert Eagles, in favor of Berettas, soonest.

It's pure escapism, but good fun.

I'll give it two thumbs up. It's a violent comedy, a good movie.

I bought it before actually seeing it. I thought parts of it were funny. Good shoot outs.

"Is it dead?!"

Target has it for $9.44. I have to go buy it again to replace a copy that was loaned out and never returned :fire:

I love this movie. I've been singing its praises ever since I first got it about a year or so ago. I've gotten a few of my friends into it too. My fav scene is the courtroom scene at the end. See my signature.

Ummm, I didn't get it. Why were they doing that again?

Have to rent it again and not watch it El Tejon style.:)

Fun movie. Willem Dafoe is hilarious! If only forum rules allowed posting some of his lines...

"Brilliant! So now we got a Huge Guy theory and a Serial Crusher theory."

"You know, you Irish cops are perking up. That's two sound theories in one day, neither of which deal with abnormally sized men. Kind of makes me feel like Riverdancing."

"So you're telling me it was one guy with six guns, and he was a senior :cuss: citizen?"

You absolutely MUST watch the deleted scenes that are on the DVD, especially the one where Mom calls the boys on St. Patrick's Day.

"Ya ruined mah girly figure!" or whatever her line is...

As far as deleted scenes go, the one called "Rozengurtle Bawumgardner" is funny as all hell. "Its sort of self imposed affirmative action. We hire 400 pound lesbians so the groups representing 400 pound lesbians don't get angry"

Spoiler warning--

Did it really bug anyone else that there was no where near enough time for them to tie off their rope (or any anchors to tie off to) before they came through the ceiling in the scene greg talked about?

i have the DVD i payed 15 plus shipping for it. it is a different version than the one sold here in the states. it's rated NC-17, i believe it's canadian or french. the gun scenes are a little more graphic, than the states version. i need to get the states version since it has a ll the extras and mine doesn't.

Awesome movie with a cult following. Almost as quotable as The Princess Bride. I'm on my third copy (like LiquidTension, my "loaners" never found their way back to me).

Also check out Equilibrium, starring Christian Bale. Gun-kata, baby!!

Error fixed. It's weird because I got that quote directly from the Boondock Saints website.

Do not kill, do not rape, to(do) not steal.

That's the spelling error I was referring to. I do like the movie and that quote.

Good movie. Pretty unrealistic as far as the gun battles.

Well they do have to reload when they run into the "hired gun". (Don't want to spoil it to badly.) And reloading isn't something you see too much of in movie gun fights.

My dearly beloved and I watched it for the 1st time last night.
We were rolling with laughter and counting shots to make sure they did not fire more than the capacity of revos and magazines.
I thought it was a well made flick with some excellent scenes. I DO wish they'd left the phone call from Mom scene in the movie, but thank Goddess for DVDs and deleted scene menus.
I heard from an acquaintance that a sequel is being made. I'll do a search and get back to y'all, if you're interested.
This flick is definitely worth the time.

The sequel is to be titled "All Saints Day", but I dont know how far along it is in production. The FBI character (William Dafoe?) opted out of the sequel for some reason.

Kharn,
When I went to BS web found All Saints day listed as sequel but clicking all over that darn clipboard didn't bring up any other info:cuss:
Oh well, I'll just have to mark it in my faulty memory and look from time to time. Let me know if YOU find any more info.
I was glad to see their Da will be with them in the Sequel. As well as that dipsh!+ Detective Greenly. Well, I guess somebody's got to go for the Bagel and Latte. ;)

As Kharn and I stated above, All Saints Day is the sequel to Boondock Saints.
I did a little extra digging and found out it was released 6-1-2001 and is available for $9.79 @ Overstock.com.
I plan on renting 1st before buying to make sure I like it.

I want to know where I can get that 6-gun rig El Duce was wearing in the street shootout.

THAT would make an interesting entrance to the range.

I saw it for the first time a couple nights ago. Pretty funny movie, if you are Irish you HAVE to watch it. My favorite quote is when the detective and his male lover are resting in bed.

"What are you doing??"
"I just want to cuddle."
"Cuddle??? What a f@g!"

...........I originally bought it because I knew much of it was filmed in Southie. I am originally from Boston myself so I enjoyed seeing some of my old stomping grounds, even though I am from Eastie. The dialogue was terrific. It's a very original film. Even though I am an animal lover, the scene with the cat was one of my favorites.:D

I love that movie.

First saw it a few years ago, decided I HAD to get it. Every time I walked into the video store, I asked if they had it yet. I think they eventually got a copy just to shut me up. Found it on DVD for less than $10. My wife likes it to. We can watch it again and again.

The Rosnwhatever scene in the deleted scenes was funny as hell. "How many lesbians does it take to change a lightbulb?" heh heh

Whoever mentioned Equilibrium, I agree. That was a good one too. I only rented it because it was a free rental, but it was well worth renting if I had had to pay for it. Wish I could have seen it in the theater.

Holly76201:
There's another movie titled "All Saints Day", but the director/screenwriter was Tommy J. La Sorsa instead of Troy Duffy (who wrote Boondock Saints). Apparently Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day wont be released until sometime this year, according to this link (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330083/).

One of my favorite movies ever. Vigilantism with religious overtones...doesn't get much better than that. Funny to boot. It's hard to find a movie that can go back and forth between funny and serious so smoothly.

New Shooter...courtroom scene is definately the best part.

Kharn, thanks for the info.
I hate it when I have to wait 6 months between movies I REALLY want to see.
Kill Bill 2 on Feb 20 and then BS 2 on Aug 20.

And shepherds we shall be, for Thee my Lord for Thee. Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. So we shall flow a river forth unto thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine patris, et filii, et spiritus sancti.

Good movie. Shooting w/ a gun in each hand is quite unrealistic, tho.

Dafoe probably declined b/c he didn't want to go drag again LOL!

shooting w/ a gun in each hand is feasible at times...
