A 7mm08 700 Ti! I'm drooling with envy! I just love light rifles and that 7mm08 is a damned fine deer cartridge!

I'll be using my Martin Magnum at 60lbs. with Thunderhead 125GR broadheads. Opening day for me is October 15th!

If you're talking firearms - Whenever that starts, I'll probably be carrying my SRH in .44 Mag (when I'm actually walking around). If its a nice day I may pull the lounge chair out back of camp and sit there with a book and my Knight Disc Extreme in .50 Cal, sighted in at 150 yards, with the scope set at 9x. I'll take the first half way decent 4-legged brown thing that walks by if I don't fill my doe tags in archery.

Opening day will find me sitting in my favorite opening day blind on the Connecticut River, near Hanover, NH. I'll be caressing an Ansley H. Fox product, two barrels, side by side, of course, and I'll be launching either of 1 and 1/8th ounces of Hevi-shot or Bismuth, probably 2's.

That CZ looks pretty.

Me? I'm taking a Savage 116 fsack weather warrior. She will be loaded up with reloads aproximating federal premium (Sierra165 game kings in once fired brass). She sports a GI leather sling, her bases are Burris and her scope is tasco. She's killed more game than any other rifle I own.

I usually take a back-up long gun with me, a Remington sportsman 12 pumpgun in 12 ga. with a deer barrel and rifled tube. I shoot Winchester 2&3/4 inch 1 oz. slugs at max dram. The 336 usually comes to camp too, but that's the "camp" gun. (and we've had to 'issue' it when somebody breaks a scope.)

Side arm is a 7.5 inch Vaquero .44 filled up with 240 Winchester soft points. Haven't killed anything with it, but don't doubt it can do the job.

October 23rd (although not opening day) Ruger Mini-14 in .223 hunting high speed beef (pronghorn) on the plains of Eastern Montana.

October 26th Opening day of Muley Season, same location, Browning A-bolt in .243

November 15th Opening day of Missouri whitetail season, Browning BAR in .270, lounging in my condo (deer stand).

I guess one of these days I should really start considering hunting in the state I live in a little bit more.

Which opening day?

1) 85/55 pound compound bow with razor insert broadheads.
2) 54 caliber hawkin shooting round balls.
3) 243 savage 110 shooting 85 gr Winchester super x.

It just depends on which day you are talking about.

I'm with Lennyjoe, too: 9-1-03 I'm in the field at sunrise with my Huglu S2 20 side by side. Behind the counter at Walmart they have Winchester Super-X's for 3.47 a box (if you can find them in stock). Their value packs of 100 rounds are 14.88 which works out to be 3.73 a box. I bet you can't tell I'm shopping.

For Whitetail I'll be shooting a Ruger Bisley 45 Colt load is a cast 255 SWCGC (Redding mould) infront of a healthy load of H-110.

If my Elk hunt works out ok I'll be carrying my CZ 550 FS 9.3x63mm for up to 300 yards. If I can get a shot under 150 yards I'll be also carrying a handgun Ruger Super RedHawk 454 Casull load is a cast 325 gr. LFNGC (Ballisti-cast mould) infront of a healthy load of H-110.

Have a good day and remember to pray for our troops.

Early bear will find me trodding around with the trusty '03 springfield. The bears are big and fat this year, summer has been good to them this year.

For deer season it'll be the Winchester model 88 in .243, been in service with various family members for 40+ years, tough to argue with what works!..

One slight change from the norm is I'll be leaving it at camp when we are out pushing the swamps, gonna give the .357 wheel gun a try.

On opening day I will be out with my Savage in 17 HMR for some small game.

However, come third rifle season (November in Colorado) I will be out with my Model 70 in 30 06 to harvest one antlerless elk. I am thinking 165 grain partition since I will probably snag a spike.

Early muzzle-loader ... hope to use my el cheapo ''New Frontier'' .50 cal in-line. No pic currently ..

Later on tho .. first day of Buck and onwards ... usual is Rem 760 Gamemaster .. a very nice rifle to tote around ... in .308.

My second deer rifle tho not used for such much is a sporterized Enfield mkIV ... shoots like a beaut.

Savage .99C .243 would still do the job too!!
