Quadruplets arrived today at 10am!!!

I haven't picked up the cigars yet but I'm a happy daddy just the same. Three identicals with consecutive serial #'s and the last one...well, I'll show it some love too. Probably name it Sig-mund. It is SO exciting to buy a new gun, but it is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME to get a whole box full on a Friday before a holiday weekend!!! I just want to put them all in a stroller and take them for a walk around the neighborhood! :D

Tell us about the P-38s. Where are they from, and what markings do they have?

May 23, 2008, 07:18 PM
No, it was quadruplets...the other P1 is just not in the picture. xxx051, 052, and 053...only 51 and 52 are in the picture with the Sig.

They're P1's...he didn't have any P38's. They came from Dan Tobin at Dan's Ammo. I always wanted something consecutive and I keep hearing about how good his stuff is, so I just ordered 3 P1's and a Sig P6. The P6 was a last minute decision while I was on the phone with Dan. He assured me he would put together 3 Walthers that I would be very happy with...made me feel so good I just said, "Good ahead and throw in a really nice Sig". The Walthers are new with surplus black holsters, 2 new mags each, and a cleaning kit with each one. The Sig is one of those police P6's, but from the looks of it has only had maybe two mags ran through it...came with 2 different style spare mag holders and one of those bikini type holsters...gun in the original box and with another German cleaning kit. Everything was $299.00 each...can't beat that level of quality and condition for the price. From now on, I will keep an eye on Dan's website and order whatever he has a special on...he has a loyal new customer with me.

Here's his website http://www.dansammo.com

cool sorry about the false correction

Oh, no problem...I was just trying to get the Sig in the picture too. This is just sooooo cool...I never thought I would own consecutive serials...thinking about making them their own special shadow box and hanging them on the wall. I was supposed to go out tonight, but I think I had rather stay home and look at them...Ha!!! :D

I wish I had the $$$ to splurge on that kind of thing.

I didn't really need to spend the money either, but I rationalized it for my own peace of mind like this...LOTS of people spend $1,200.00(often more) on a single custom 1911 or AR15 style gun...just 1 single gun. I got 4 guns for that and they all came with the leather goods and accessories.

I got 4 guns for thatAs well you should've. Good finds!

Beauty! The best part is that there are no 3 A.M. feedings and the toxic diapers to change. They are already house-broken.

Wow, very nice. I'm going to be ordering a P-1 pretty soon. The P6 looks pretty neat, but I don't think I can justify that!

Where are you ordering from? I am amazed to be able to get new P1's...I'm going to wear them out just looking at them. I have also seen a lot of the surplus Sig P6's at shops...always at least $50 more than I paid for mine and they are usually beat to death. I've already had a couple of friends who are Sig lovers drooling over it...they keep asking what the split is on the hammer...I tell them it was made for the German marked, so it's a beer opener.

I did actually get up a 4 this morning and checked on them. I have bought all kinds of modern guns over the past 4 months, but these are my favorites.

blkbrd666, you did well. I'm a big fan of the Walther, too. I have a brace of P-1s, a downstairs gun and upstairs. I can't tell from the pix, but do yours have the reinforcing rod between the takedown latch and the trigger? I've heard it helps the durability, but neither of mine are so equipped. I'm not worried about the lack, but I know on some forums, people recommend the rod for extremely heavy duty.

I'm actively thinking about buying a third P-1 and having my friendly smith cut the barrel and dovetail a hi-viz front sight in the slide. An instant P-38k, or was it the P-4? Except for the width across the dual recoil springs and muzzle blast from the short barrel, it would make a neat carry piece.

My experience with the P-6 is non-existent. However, I had a friend in the early 80s who bought a BDA in 9mm. That was the Browning import of the SIG and probably wasn't much different from the -6. Nice gun. Fun to shoot and accurate.

Enjoy your new friends.

Yes, all three Walthers have the hex-pin through the frame. I already had an earlier P38 that doesn't have the pin. Being new, I doubt I will ever shoot it enough to worry about the lack of on the P38.

Cutting the barrel to the length of the front sight band and mounting sight on the slide would give you a P38k. The P4 has a barrel that's mid-length to the P1/P38 and the P38k. P4 also doesnt' have the tin piece on top of the slide in front of the rear sight...the slide is solid there.

I need a P5, P4, P88, and a well marked collectible WWII P38 and I think I can call the Walther collection "FINISHED". I think the P5 is going to be easy in the future...the others, not so much.

blkbrd666, I appreciate your clarification on the -38k v. -4.

I did some looking at the P-38 forum and the more I ponder it, the better I like getting another to cut the barrel. I even found a site for a 'smith who does the work in the neighborhood of a grand. Yikes! Of course, he correctly braises on the front sight. My aging eyesight prefers a high visibility front. My only worry is if there's sufficient metal on the slide to cut a dovetail.

Enjoy your beauties.
