What can I expect to pay for 1 lb., 4 lb., and 8 lb. quantities in California? SF Bay area?

Why buy in CA? You can get better deals out of State.

you can get on a group buy list to get a good rate. Other than that in my area Win 231 is around 22lbs a pound. In my case i just buy the lb from my near by gunshop or at the range. If you try to buy online unless you buy a whole heck of a lot of powder then its not worth it. This is because you will be charged a good shipping and handeling fee plus a HAZMAT fee.

I belong to a club that has sold components for 6% over price. I called today about the 231 and the conversation left me unclear as to whether they are still doing the prices.

As it turns out, I think the 1 lb. quantity might not be competitive, but the 8 lb. is about $10 under Powder Valley.

I will need to check further into the calguns group buys as one of the members, Irvington Arms, is near here.

you need to get on cal guns. Irvington Arms does a lot for cal gun members. If there is not a group buy going on. Post it in the ammo sections. everyone will jump on it. you will find a lot of good members on there. I did a group buy once. One guy ordered it all then we all met somewhere and picked up our stuff. it was a lot cheaper but that depends on how many people get into it

I pay $61 for a 4lb jug of W231 locally. Maybe that could help you judge the price you are getting.
