Now the only question is .40 or .357Sig? :D

Get the .40 because the .40 magazines can be used with the .357SIG barrel but the .357SIG magazines CANNOT be used with the .40.

I have a .40 and love it. Extremely nice little carry piece.

I've always read that the .40 and .357 Sigs use the same mags

the mags from my P229 (originally in .40) works fine with both .40/.357 Sig rounds..... and the P239 should function the same with either round.

That is true with 90% of the .40/.357SIG firearms out there.......the P239 being the exception.

I don't know why, I don't know if has to do with it being single stack, I have no idea really but the P239 has different magazines for each caliber.

The .40 magazines do, however, work with the .357 rounds but the opposite is not true.

If I was going to convert to .357SIG for carry/defense I would probably buy .357SIG specific magazines just to make me feel better but for plinking and fun I have never heard of anybody having any issues with using the .40 magazines for .357SIG.

I went with the 9mm just because I knew I'd put more range time in with it.

Go for the .40 buddy, .357 is fun but you can't get them at Wal Mart or Academy. buy a .357 barrel on Sunday and you will have both(I have 100 of .357 you have).

Get the 357SIG version. I know three folks that have bought the .40 and then got the 357SIG barrel. They all have ignored their .40 barrels after firing this gun in 357SIG. Sounds ridiculous but it' s true.

I went to the Sigarms Academy Concealed Carry Pistol course and shot a P239 in .357 SIG in low light (where 80% of assault occur). It looked like a flamethrower.

If the Sidewalk Commandos have talked you out of 9mmP, then I'd look at .40 S&W.

Might I put in a plug for .357 Sig

And not just because I have one for sale either!!!(check listings!)

Ok...that is why....but I still favor .357!:D

I shot a farnam course and the low light shooting showed mine to be no worse...or better than the other calibers in terms of flash

But man...did those steel plates bounce!!!!!!

My P239 is in .40. For whatever reason, .40 and 357 SIG magazines aren't interchangable with the P239. On all other .40 Sigs, the magazine says ".40/357." Go figure.

Anywho, in .40, its a real soft shooter, even with hot 135/155/165 gr loads. And in either .40 or 357, you can buy the opposite barrel and magazines and have two calibers in one. Can't do that with 9mm. Not to dissuade the 9mm, I just like the idea of having two in one myself :)

I love mine but of course it's the 9mm version. I strongly believe it is better to give up a little power then to give up a bullet or two.

Thank's everyone. I have decided too go with the .40. And put in the .357 barrel and mag requests to my relatives for Christmas.
