Reckon why powder difference?

My boy and I shoot trap as much as we can afford. We usually use the bargain Winchester or Federal bulk packs we get at WalMart or the Diana loads sold at the trap field. Either of those mentioned choices do not require an inordinate amount of gun cleanup afterwards.

Yesterday we used a couple of the 100 shot packs of the Remington Sport loads. They were on sale at the WalMArt, so we bought them instead figuring to get better quality. WOW! The gun was twice as nasty after shooting as with the cheaper loads mentioned above. Clean-up was a pain with more residue and plastic in the barrel than with the cheaper loads. I know there are different powders in brands of ammo. What gives with the nastier ammo in this case? Edumacate me please!

The scores weren't any better, so I figure to go back to the cheap stuff again. Got to blame it on something :)

I've shot quite a few of the Remington Sport Loads and have no complaints whatsoever with the shells. I've also cut several of them open and the only "problem" I've discovered is that the 1 1/8 ounce loads are usually a little bit light on the amount of shot contained therein. Usually, it's closer to 1 1/16 ounce. Other than that, they shoot and work well. They are also pretty good hulls for reloading.

Assuming you are going to clean your gun barrel anyway, what's the problem with a little extra residue?
