Well I moved from California and now I'm here in the heat and humidity of Louisiana.

Back home, I could find easily a place to shoot a round of skeet or trap for around 3-5 dollars. A sporting clays course for around $32-38 for a 100 targets on a large course.

I'm having a great difficulty finding any place for that price around here. One SC course was for 50 targets, 40 bucks and you couldn't bring your own shells (***!) A skeet/trap place who's nonmember fees cost 10 bucks! Membership was 150 dollars. And we're not talking about open till 11pm, voice activated stuff, just run of the mill, open till dark, push button machines.

I thought the South would be cheaper to shoot, so far I think I may be wrong. Any people from LA give me a heads up on a reasonable place to shoot?

If you come north a bit, there are several good places. There's a gun club outside Opelousas that has been referenced in a thread here. I shoot out at Natchitoches Shooting Range sometimes - great SC course, trap, skeet, 5-stand, rifle and pistol, and very reasonable prices.

SHoot all day for $6, bring a friend and your own clays, shells, and gun. Not fancy but good people and only about 30 minutes from New Orleans, depending on where you are coming from.

Paul,

Thanks a ton. Can you give me some general directions on how to get there. I live pretty close to the 10. Do I just head toward Slidell and then how far is it from there?

thanks!
