I would like to get your input on what slug would be good for hogs. 2 3/4 or 3" mag. I was thinking of copper coated slugs but will lead one work well.

Otto Brenekke developed his slug specifically for wild boar. Even today, the Rottweil Brenekke slug in either 12 or 16 gauge is a good choice.

try taking a look at dixieslugs.com. They make slugs for large and dangerous game specifically. They have hard cast lead slugs at 730 gr., and all there test data is out of a 20 inch 870 fully rifled, i.e. a real gun that most can afford.
Good Luck, Happy Hunting.

The few hogs I have killed with regular old 2 3/4 Foster slugs were pretty dead.

I have had good results with the Brenekke Rotweil slugs also.
