I just acquired a Barreled AK receiver of unknown origin. If I had to guess, I would say it is Romanian, it has a canted front sight. It also came with Tapco furniture.

The Receiver is finished with some nasty thick black stuff, possibly hiding markings, or it may have been home made. There are no internals.

Should I take the gamble and build this thing up the rest of the way?
It seems stupid to spend 120$ on parts and 60$ on headspace guages that I will only use once, and even then if this thing is home made, how do I know it's heat treated, built to proper dimensions etc.?

I already have a good AR15 so it's not like I really need this AK.

It looks like a home build receiver to me. The rivets on the front trunion and the divots.
