NYS Deer Hunters

Just got back from son's graduation. Drove I-90 across NYS. For about 100 miles going east from Buffalo, there was a dead deer about every 4 miles, and many live ones. What is the hunting situation there?
Thanks in advance.

I fill my tag every year in Columbia county, and my mom fills hers in Dutchess, as does my brother and two sisters. We all hunt, but I prefer Columbia to Dutchess, as they allow rifle shooting there, and in Dutchess, you must use shotgun (stupidest thing ever).
Two years ago I killed two does, 190# and 205#, each from about 30 yards, in two days. I didn't get the buck, but I've never seen a good recipe for cooking antlers.

I hunt every year in Onondaga and Cortland counties (Syracuse area). Haven't had a dry year for a long, long time.

There seems to be an abundance of deer and bear in NW Pa and SW NY. They've even opened limited elk hunting in Pa.
I'm guessing less hunters for Pa, I don't know about NY. Pa Game Commission couldn't manage anything good enough for those results.

Should have added, non-resident hunting licenses are easy to get, but are pretty spendy. Good info here: http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/7857.html
