So my father's birthday is coming up. He just recently picked up a 642 that he intends to carry, and I want to get him a nice piece of leather to wrap it in.

Who should I be looking at? I've looked at Tucker Gunleather and Mitch Rosen so far. The lead time isn't a problem, and neither is cost (though I'd like to stay under two or three hundred if at all possible.)

Thanks.

How much $$$ do you want to spend? You can spend as little as $18.50
and get him a all leather Bianchi #6 IWB holster, that is quality all the
way. It holds any Smith & Wesson J-frame very securely against the body.
I have one that I bought new in 1976, that I use for S&W models: 37, 60,
442, and 642. Never had any issues with it, and the way I dress* no one
can tell I'm carrying.

*FootNote: usually in shorts, with a polo shirt or a tee shirt; here in the
HOT and HUMID muggy south. Works well in cold weather also, covered
by a sweatshirt or jacket.

Sure, you can spend a fortune on some other products-but why argue
with what works~? :scrutiny: ;) :D

IMHO the 442/642 belongs in the pocket or on the ankle.

With that said, I'd go with a Mika Pocket Holster. If you must have an OWB Belt Holster the Milt Sparks PMK is a good one.
