Hi everybody, this is my first post on this forum. I did a search but didn't come up with what I was looking for.

I have a 300 weatherby mag MKV, I'm working up an elk load. I have some Berger 175 VLDs, I'm using IMR 7828 powder, fed 215 primers. Has anyone used this combo, velocity, performance ?

Trying to work up this load for long range, hence the Bergers.

Welcome to the forum.

I used Berger 168 Gr. VLDs out of a 300 Weatherby Mag. for antelope and they worked great. I use Federal 215M primers and H4831SC in mine and get excellent accuracy.

Thanks for the reply, do you know what your velocity is ? I was using hornady SST's 180 grns. @ 3270 fps with 85 grains of IMR 7828 (of cource that's a hot load). Just trying to get some answers before I start loading the Berger 175s. How did your seating work out with the 168s ?

SST's shoot fine, but looking more long range bullets.

If I remember correctly, the muzzle velocity was about 3,120 fps. With a magazine rifle, you have to seat deep enough to function through the magazine. With 165 and 168 grain bullets, the base of the bullet was around where the neck started.
