A friend is selling one of these and I might be interested. I want it as a general plinker and fun gun. Any comments on the reliability and accuracy of these pistols. Is it possible to get magazines for them?

Thanks in advance.

Paul

These are nice but usually pricey . If you can buy it for less than $300 I would in a heart beat. Skeeter Skelton's favorite trail gun I think!:D

Hell of a gun compared to the .22 junk that's being sold as a Walther these days. Neat too - a good size for a useful, small, rimfire. Should be quite accurate.

I purchased one for my son to shoot when he goes to the range. I got it for $250 NIB at a local gun show here a month or so ago.

First time at the range had a few FTF (1st roundof mag) but found out it was that my son did not insert the mag all the way, after showing him what he did, have not had any problems.

Have a little over 500 ronds through it. The gun is small and fits my sons (11 yr old) hand great. I like shooting it also .. Fun gun.

I have a PPK/S in .22. Great little gun, my kid shoots mine too. It does NOT like cheap ammo though. It won't cycle well with it. But, its seems to run well on any good premium, full power ammo.

In a recent class with Jim Crews, he was carrying a P22 as a backup weapon. he likes it very much

If the price is right, buy it. It should be a nice "fun gun". A CCW it isn't.

Mine has only ate the 550 rd value pack from WalMart for $8.64. Loves them..

They are a cool little gun, and fairly accurate. I think they are spotty with feeding issues. Some have zero trouble and love them. The one I have shot belongs to my Brother In Law. It has a FTF at least once every magazine. Since it is used, see if you can run a few shots through it before the deal is finalized.

I have one, and it is fun to shoot. Very Very fast in rapid fire:D
It is fairly accurate, but is no ruger target pistol. At just about 1600 rounds, I had a problem with the safety, I would take a shot and the safety would would fall to the on postion, therefore I could not take the next shot. I called s&w and they have heard of the problem before, so I sent it in, they fixed it and also replaced the recoil spring while it was there. I have about another 1800 rounds through it since then, and not a problem.
I have tried many different kinds of ammo, and rem thunderbolt is the only one my p22 will shoot without any problems.
I do have alot of fun with this p22!

Hi PJR,

i bought one of these about 2 months ago. I've put 500 or so rounds through it. It's a fun pistol. Everyone I shoot with wants to have a turn with a couple of magazines. It groups well, but the 3 sights that come with it don't do elevation any real justice.

It loves Remington bulk pack, with copper clad bullets. It won't tolerate lead bullets.

The roll pin adjacent to the safety backed out on mine, as it has on others I've heard about. S&W had me send it back, where they fixed the problem, put in a new return spring gratis and sent me an extra magazine.

I paid $239 for mine NIB and haven't regretted it.

There were some feed problems early on, from what I understand. These, according to one of the sites I came across, were due to the magazine. This was fixed, according to the site. There is something with the part number on the side of the magazine that will indicate whether it is the revised version or not. I will post here with the site info as soon as I get to my home pc and retrieve the site. Walthe/s&w will trade the old mags for new as I recall. As far as feeding, mine which has the "revised" mags, feeds flawlessly.
Another problem with the gun (at least for me) was the barrel nut loosening up with a number of rounds. A really good fix for me was to order the Gemtech thread adapter. Meant for suppressors, it serves my purpose of not having to keep getting out that darned tool. It replaces the nut and protrudes from the front a little. It has a knurled thread protector, which serves perfectly to tighten the barrel up without tools. Plus, it sorta makes it look like a mini H&K MK23.
All in all my favorite plinker! (and I have a very accurate ruger 22/45)

Guys,

He's asking about the Walther PP in .22 - an all steel product of old world craftsmanship.

Not the P22, the Lorcin of German firearms.

I have a PPK .22, a PP .22, and a P22. I had hoped that the plastic P22 was going to be a replacement for a steel version, but such was not the case. A PPK or PP is more than twice the pistol of the P22.

Yeah, you can get mags, but be prepared to pay through the nose!!!

You can get them HERE (http://www.waltherusa.net/) .

They cost $79 for the flush mag and $89 for the finger extension!!

Here's a pic.
