1911 Magazine is Loose (when slide locked back)

Just curious if what I am noticing on my 1911 is normal or not. When I put a loaded magazine into my Springfield Mil-Spec Stainless 1911 while the slide is locked back it feels loose and jiggles up and down a bit. Once I release the slide forward the magazine is then perfectly tight the way I feel it should be. Is it suppose to be loose when the slide is locked back?
Thanks!

Normal.
When the slide is closed the mag spring keeps it tight.

If it wasn't loose, it wouldn't fall out when you push the mag release.
1911's had the original "Drop-Free" mags!

Sounds normal.

The 1911 mags should wiggle a bit since they are to drop free. Interestingly, though, my Springfield stainless won't accept all magazines. The mag well is tight and some just won't fit in it. It's just a tight gun and mags built to loose tolerances may not work.
