Not me or related to me, but I thought it was a pretty novel idea. What do you think?

That thing is damn cool, but $190 with grip?! Holy crap, thats almost as much as a whole 870 (even more if you're lucky and find a used one for a sweet price). If it was more like $75 for just the adapter (no stock, no grip, I have those lying around the house as spares for my ARs) I'd be on it as soon as I could get my credit card out of my wallet.

There's another one in development - see this thread (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?threadid=27542) for details.

It would be very cool to pick up an 870 HD cheap model and outfit it with that AR collapseable stock just for a cool/unique gun factor.....but.....
Somehow I bet with a couple 3 inch shells that little collapsable stock would dig into your shoulder like a meat tenderizer. I am not recoil sensitive but I would be hesitent the first time.
But man I want to set up an 870 like that last shorty one.

This is a solution in search of a problem. Choate makes an excellent top-folding stock for the 870 that will punish your shoulder MUCH better and it doesn't require new sights. Having held one of the FN shotguns with the raised sights and the CAR stock, I can honestly say it was an ergonomic nightmare. Might look cool, but If I wanted to look cool for $190 more, I'd buy ANOTHER 870.

"This is a solution in search of a problem."
Finally, some common sense! (sigh)

eeh. They make slip on recoil pads for CAR type stocks, and brobeebiter came up with his because he had a problem that needed solving, and his adaptor solved it for him.
the inline stock has some real advantages, like considerably decreased muzzle flip, and the ability to take any AR-15 stock is handy, especially since most of them have a place to put your cleaning kit, which should be attached to the weapon anyway.
if you don't like it, don't buy it.

Nah - all opinions are welcome. That's why I posted this - to start discussion.
I was mostly interested in the idea of a picatanny rail option without having to change barrels. I was worried that the length of pull might be too long after you add both the stock AND the adapter, but I don't know the LOP of the various AR stocks off hand. I also thought the "straightline stock" reducing muzzle flip was an interesting idea as well, and wanted to hear more on the subject.
All this is just an academic discussion anyway - I'm sticking with my plain jane cut-down (to fit my LOP) Express wood on my 870 until either I break it or it falls off - I'm to cheap to go blowing $200 on something that doesn't need to be fixed yet :D

Collapsed M4 stock is really short, too short even for a little guy like you. 'Round 11", IIRC. I usually use my M4 with the stock pushed out to the first open position, and our arms are probably pretty close to the same length.
One of the mags- might have been SWAT, don't remember- did a review on the M4 stocked FN SG recently. Recoil was tolerable.
