I have a S&W 66-1 4 inch barrel. I would like to know if I can use shotshells in it. Will it hurt the bbl.Have any of you used them. Is CCI the only manufacturer that makes them is there a batter manufacturer.
Thanks

They won't hurt the barrel. However, the bits of plastic that constitute the shell can get stuck in the cylinder and can jam it up. I speak from experience :o:o:o
Not saying it'd happen everytime, but I'll not be doing it again, myself.

I use em all the time in the exact same gun for rattle snakes but effective range is about 3 feet as the rifling spins the shot into a large hollow doughnut as range gets further

I used to use them a bunch in a Model 65 until I started loading my own with #9 shot. Mine did real well out to about 15 yards out of a Ruger Blackhawk. Killed some quail, a couple of Woodcock, and untold snakes.

No harm can come to a gun from using CCI shotshells in it.
I have been running them through every caliber gun I have since they started making them 30+ years ago, and no problems yet.
They seem to pattern better out of snub nose guns then longer barrels.

+1 for no harm (never had one jam my cylinder)
Used to use them. Undependable pattern though so I just use whatever my revolver is loaded with. (right now that is Corbon 110grain jhp)
It is usually an easy shot if they are curled up. I don't really care about killing a retreating snake. If you do, they make a fun target.
(as a kid shooting water moccasins with a Ruger .22 was great sport)

use them in my 66, not too effective past 5-6 feet with factory 11 or 12 shot - I reload my own with9's or 8-1/2's - gives me about another 3 feet.....
