Help from Sig guys- something fell off my p220

On the side opposite the mag release and decocker, there are two "dots" inset in the slide (in the middle of the serrations). One of these dots has fallen out (gone)! I guess I'll have to call Sig to get another one sent to me, but in the meantime- W.T.F. was that, and is its absence purely a cosmetic issue, or not safe to carry and shoot until I get it replaced?

Anyways, hope it's no big deal, but either way I'm wondering why it wouldn't fall out again once replaced since it fell out once already.

Anyways you're going to think I'm lying/crazy, because after looking for pictures of a similar sig (with the same dots on the side), I've found the same missing dot in the same place! But I am not crazy, THERE WAS A DOT IN THAT HOLE on mine! Same one that's missing in this photo. Mine's just like this (from gomoose at G.B.), but it's a full size with no rail.

I KNOW I had something in that hole (a little rounded dot just like the smaller one to the right/above)! Because I noticed it immediately, jumped right out at me when it was gone. So either a) most other p220's with those two dots have also happened to lose the same one (not likely), b) mine was just special and happened to come with a dot in there (not likely), or c) mine never had a dot there all along (NOT a possibility). But this should be interesting. At the very least looks like it's not too important if so many others don't have theirs. Hopefully just cosmetic. So WEIRD!

I don't think they ever really put plugs in the ''mystery hole.'' Posting on SIGforum would get you a quick answer.

Oh it's a P220. Actually, sorry to disappoint but all current P220 and X5 models come with the hole in the slide.

Unfortunately, theres nothing that "fell out of there" so you could plug it back up. I know cuz that hole is the sole reason I've yet to bought a P220 or X5 with that booty looking hole in the slide.

Rest assured though, that hole is suppose to be there. The rollpin is the small round nub to the top right of the hole in your slide.

And it isn't a roll-pin anymore either.

It is a solid, press-fit, taper pin now.

Only the old sheet-steel slide German guns had a double roll pin (one inside the other) holding the steel breech block in place.

Oh I REALLY hope pics of when it was new are still on my old computer.

But the good news is it's O.K. that it's now gone apparently, since most of them never had it anyways. B.T.W. I still have yet to see a picture of the exact version of mine (full size, S.S., Nitron, no rail, alloy frame etc). There was a dot that filled that hole, just like the other dot, except bigger. I spent ALOT of time looking at this sucker when it was new. I know.
