touching up aluminum

What's the best way to touch up scratches on an aluminum receiver? I have one of those bluing pens, but those are for ferrous metals only. The previous owner had a side saddle mounted to the left side of the receiver (Winchester 1300), and when I removed it, it revealed some scratches down to the bare metal. The finish is a smooth black (anodized?).

Thanks for any info you guys have!

Good question.

I was kind of wondering that myself today.

Just bought a pistol yesterday that has a couple small (but noticable) scratches on an aluminum frame and I was wondering if I should just paint it black again or what (it's a surplus former military pistol and it just has a black painted on finish on the frame anyway). It's not worth enough to send out to have a smith do it for me, so I'm in the same exact situation.

Hopefully someone will have an answer for both of us.

Birchwood-Casey Super Black™ Touch-Up Paint Pens.
Come in either Gloss or Flat finish.

Black Magic Marker might be another possibility, though not as durable.

Birchwood Casey also makes an aluminum black, it goes on just like cold blue, but turns the aluminium black, clean with water then oil it and it gets shiny, does an ok job but not like the original finish.

Some of the plain felt tip markers will do a pretty good job on stuff like that as long as there is not going to be a lot of rubbing.
