In ther state of nevada, I'm allowed to buy rifles and rifle ammunition because I am over the age of 18. But to buy a pistol, or pistol ammunition, I would need to be over the age of 21.

My question is, can I purchase a handgun from a PRIVATE seller while under the age of 21? Or would this be breaking the law?

Its not against federal law. I doubt Nevada would have a state law making it illegal, but I'm no expert on Nevada laws. Best bet is to check with the people that would be prosecuting you if it is illegal. In other words, call the DA's office and ask them.

AZ is ok. I bought a S&W Mod 29 when I was 18.

There is nothing in NRS (Nevada Revised Statue) chapter 202, that prohibits a non-prohibited person older than 18 and younger than 21 from purchasing/possessing a handgun.
