and it is on it's way here. Should arrive beginning of next week. Gotta go to the valley of sin next week, so I'll pick up some fodder while down there. Will post some pics of the piece and my bruised and broken shoulder after I get it.

Now, back to the original idea of what to get in a .410 to go with the unopened case of 250 loads of .410. For just playing and generally goofing off I'm figuring a single shot youth model of something would fit the bill.

What's my best bet for picking up an older, well loved, .410 Anyone with any ideas. Pawn shop, gun store with a used section, internet, this site?

Check the local ranges. Often the best deals in town are tacked to the bulletin boards there.

Then gun shops. Look for a used NEF/H&R single shot. Besides being cheap, these are often found with only a few rounds through them.

Going to be hard to find anything tacked up out here. I live in the mountains and have hundreds of square miles of shooting range. I will check while I am in the Valley of Sin just to see what might be lurking in some gun/pawn shop.

Around these parts the used .410 shotgun doesn't sit in the shop very long. A lot of folks still using them as starter guns for the kids and at least as many enjoy them for general use around the place for varmit control. Used ones here do not get discounted all that much from new prices.

You can check where you can, but most likely a new one from a local gun shop is where you will end up. NEF makes good single shot guns, In a pinch the Rossi also makes a cheap .410 and they can be had with an extra .22 RF barrel for about $150 - $160 last I looked at Gander. (an option, but quality is not up to the NEF )
