Shotgunning at the Greenbrier

I was able to shoot Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays last week at the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. It was a great experience. Have any of the rest of you tried the Greenbrier?

No, but I've seen the resort on Travel / shooting shows. Also on a show about the secret bunker. It looked very nice. Did you take any pictures?

I got a few pictures, but they were primarily the vacation variety with me and my wife in them all.
Yes, the bunker tour was a highlight. We also took a falconry class. That is a very interesting experience. Also, for the golfers, there are three championship golf courses, and the food in the main dining room is to die for.
I, however, failing to distinguish myself on the golf course, made the biggest impact on the shooting fields.

Clem, you know what they say - a golf course is a shocking waste of a perfectly good shooting range! :D

Or, that sporting clays is just another version of golf - with guns!

Well, let's see. I had a 98 on the golf course but I had a 73 on the clays course (with a .410). Now what does that little reversal tell you about where I should spend my time and money?

Grew up, up the road a piece from there. Whacked my first golf ball on the Greenbrier's GC.

Sounds like a fun trip Clemson.
Saw a show on the tube a while back that had a BBQ cooking class there as well. These folk’s did stuff on the grill that was simply amazing.
Lets see … clays, golf, the bunker, fine dining, grillin’ time … I think the Greenbrier just became my top pick for the next vacation!
Now all I gotta do is sell the idea to my sweetie.
Oh honey … what ya think about ….. ;)

if you don't mind me asking, what does it cost to shoot a round of 100 there? How about rooms if you stay there?

The Greenbrier is expensive. Figure an average of $800 per day with a couple enjoying a full range of activities. The room will be around $400-500 of that. As I recall, 100 clays with a trapper runs about $75 (plus tip). That is about double what I would pay around home.
You can get to a rate sheet at the Greenbrier website. www.greenbrier.com
