Just your friendly Federal govt at work, protecting "us from them"... or is it "us from us"?

Here's a quick read

http://pittsburgh.indymedia.org/news/2003/07/7368.php

I guess Alaska as a whole doesn't care for it either... maybe it's just the state assembly there that doesn't care for it. Several cities have also voiced disapproval.

Imagine passing a bill that you never read?
Imagine you're not even in your office due to the Anthrax attack at the time of voting for said bill with a patriotic sounding name.
Imagine your Attorney General saying it's not enough, we need more restrictions still.
Imagine the constitution going down the toilet.
Imagine another administration using it to hunt down what they call, Terrorists (right wing conspiritors beware).

That's all. No big deal, er, pig squeal.

Adios

Don't you feel safer already?

Not a good thing.

It eliminates a lot of due process. It gives the Gov't sweeping new powers.

For example, if you get branded a terrorist suspect (maybe cuz you've mentioned a Barret .50 at THR?) the Fed's can eavesdrop on you with virtually no warrant/notification. You could be arrested and held without habeus corpus rights, etc.

Someone with more info correct me if I'm wrong.

The patriot act would only be considered double-plus ungood by the agents of Goldstien!

Don't worry though, the ministry of love will show you what truth really is...

That's how i understand it too. Since it doesn't give government agencies "enough" authority, I guess they'll try to expand it to include other things like facial recognition software installation in key areas?

And what about the term "Preemptive Strike"...does this mean that because I own a rifle, a scope, reload my own ammo and live on a large private property that they can come get me and my stuff so I don't use it in a way that is dangerous to others?

Where can I go? What can I do?
I can't help but think of the phrase, "you will be assimilated".

Another area of concern is those sheep-like neighbors. It will soon be socially accepted even expected to call the hotline or email the citizen corps if you think your neighbors are involved in any unsafe activities.

I'm paranoid...:what:
