WW 40 cal Value Pack

I have had reasonable accuracy with the 9MM value Packs. I took my G22 to the range. I had fired Speer Lawman and Remington UMC in 180 grain FMJ with poa/poi at 7/15/25 yards. The WW Value Pack is 165 grain FMJ. At 7/15 yards, the accuracy was eratic from good to terrible. The groups were 4" to 7" below aim. Reloads using 180 grain and Herco powder were poa/poi. Byron

WW? Is this the Winchester value pack? If so I had the same problem with Winchester. I was shooting my 44mag with Winchester White box not the value pack. (50) My revolver groups were all over the place. And a very unusual misfire a round got stuck between the the ejector star and the cylinder. This has never happened before with other ammo. And my POA is right on with other ammo brands. I was just curious about the "WW".
I also have a box of 40S&W I havent tried them yet.

I wonder why that is...is this stuff not made to the same standards as the 9mm? That stuff just keeps running.

Coldshot, it is the WW USA Target/Range 100 round value pack. The catalog number is USA40SWVP. Byron

Byron Thanks for the info. Im beginning to see why they are calling them value packs now.;) With the Good Lord willing, I think Im going to try the 40S&W WWB out come next week. I have to work weekends:(
ps
I know that my 44mag WWB was all over the place. I was like:eek: The big PMCs were right on the money.
Pss
Sorry to hijack your thread by talking about the 44mag.:)

I e-mailed WW after I placed the Tread. A form e-mail said I would be contacted by snail mail. I'll post the reply. I gave all lot #'s etc and the date and place of purchase. Byron

I've had the same experience with the Walmart value packs. At first I thought it was me but I tried some different ammo and I was dead on accurate again. Its a good deal but whats the point if I can't hit anything with them.

It's fairly accurate out of my g22... clouds of smoke though.
note to self: only shoot at outdoor range....

My G22 hates the value pack. Accuracy is dismal. Pull a few down and do some charge weight checks, they are all over the place. JUNK is what I call the 40 value packs. The 9mm and 45 are probably just as poorly controlled in loading but are much more forgiving IME.

I have not had any problems with the winchester valu packs that I have used.

I shot a box of the WWB value packs in .40 S&W through my Beretta 96. They shot a bit low but seemed consistant.

I shoot the 9mm and .45 WW value packs. Both are pretty good. I used the 9mm to shoot my CCW re-qualification. It shot to POA. So does the .45. I have not tried the .40S&W though. I shot my way through a box of the 9mm this weekend with no problems. :D

My Sig P228 shoots the 9mm value pack ammo beautifully. But I had intermittent feeding problems with the .40 S&W value pack ammo in my CZ 75B, although I thought it was generally fairly accurate stuff.

A letter was received from WW today. They are sending me a UPS mailer to return the ammo. They indicated they would refund the ammo cost. 20 rounds will be returned. Byron

I can't speak on the quality of the white-box .40 ammo, but the value-pack .45ACP stuff is working very well for me. Hopefully your problems are just the result of getting ahold of a bad lot, and Winchester makes things right for you.

I've always bought Winchester 50 round boxes at Wal-Mart (180 grain) and then when they started getting the 100 round boxes, I started buying them. I don't notice any difference in accuracy or feeding. No feeding problems at all in my Glock 27. I'm not that great of a shot to begin with, but all the rounds at least hit somewhere on the paper with either kind! :)

I got the chance to take my 40cal out today. The WWBs were aweful. This is the second bad experience that Ive had with is ammo.
Thank God!!! For Remington!!!

Just wondering......
This is why I never buy paintballs from anywhere except my local paintball store, where the staff opens each box for inspection before selling it to me, and it's dated as to when it arrived in the store. Fresh Paintballs are critical to accuracy and fps. I think this could relate to ammo as well:
Wal-Mart (and most other mass retailers) use their own distribution centers. Vendors ship truckloads of things to the distribution center, then Wal-Mart distributes the items to their stores.
The problem is how the merchandise is treated in the interim. Does Wal-Mart follow the FIFO (First in, First out) method? Who knows how old the ammo is, and how it's been stored (temperature, humidity, overweighted pallets thus causing damage to items on the bottom of the pallet). Warehouse people can't have the knoeldge needed to know how to treat every specific piece of merchandise.
Could this be why we see so many inconsistencies with the WWB value packs?

What do they charge for the value packs in .40?

.40 S&W Value Packs @ $14.97.
I never have a problem with the 9mm VP in my Sig P228. Had some jams with the .40 cal VP in my CZ 75B. A friend of mine had a jam with the .45 ACP VP in his S&W 945 (the first & only time this one has jammed).

I've been running the 9mm for a while now without any problems, except for one dud.
I used the 50 pack 180 grain walmart winchester once... it shot fine, but got the gold flakes everywhere. My wally world just got the .40 value packs, and I bought one, but haven't shot it yet.
I prefer UMC in any caliber for practice ammo, but it costs almost twice as much around here as WWB value packs, so I don't buy it often in 9mm. If the .40 value packs are acceptable, I'll probably switch to them.

Crud! Don't tell me this. I just bought a pack of that stuff for the first time. I usually purchase remanufactured ammo from tncartridge.com, but the Winchester value packs come out a better deal. I need to go shoot this box this weekend and see.
The 9mm and 45 cal white box seems to be well liked. I don't understand what could be so wrong with the 40 cal stuff from them.

That's somewhat surprising. I've had good results w/ both the 9mm & 45 acp WWB's from Walmart. But, guns can be picky creatures, maybe yours just doesn't like the stuff!

I've gone through about five boxes of the .40 165gr value pack without any problems. In fact it shot just as well out of my P944 as the value pack in the 115 9mm did through my P89.

My HK UPS does fine with value pack. I got 3" 10 shot groups offhand at 15 yards

So far I've had good experience w/ the 9mm and .45
I'm hoping I receive the same experience out of the .40 (hopefully) since I hope to pick up a XD-40 subcompact somewhere in the future.
Funny, my Sig prefers Winchester value pack over the PMC :o
