Is it necessary to put anything on a revolver after applying fitz. If you do apply a silicone or CLP; will it remove the polish???

Silicone and CLP will not change the look (neither is abrasive). Flitz is protective and nothing else needs to be applied after polishing except maybe some paste wax to help with fingerprints.

I'd suggest not flitzing your gun again. One light polishing won't hurt anything, but you'll quickly wear through the finish with aggressive or repeated polishing. Just use silicone, CLP, or wax from now on and the finish should do well.
Congrats on the 586. Mine is a favorite for it's balance, trigger, and accuracy.

Flitz is great on SS but it will as stated above compromise the bluing.
I use BF CLP, Eezox or CorrosionX for protection and enhancement!
If you insist on a dry protection type product try a good carnuba wax!

+2!
Keep rubbing with Flitz and you won't have a blued gun very long!
It should only be used to remove light fingerprint rust and such on a blued gun.
Nothing else!

Yep. Once is good. Got it nice and shiny now. Polish with soft cloth and oil to keep shiny.
