Revolver question. Ever had this to happen?

I have a Taurus M44 44 mag. revolver. I was out shooting the other day. When I had a very strange incident to happen.
I loaded the gun six rounds of Winchester White box 240 grainers.
I fired the gun about twice. Then the gun misfired, I was thinking dud.
Upon inspection I found a loaded cartridge had slipped through the ejector or star. Stuck between the Star and cylinder.I didnt have any problems getting it out. But I would like to know what could have caused this? I have seen this happen with 22lr revolvers before but not centerfire guns. Any info? or Thoughts?
ps I have posted on the revolver board. Some help but was left hanging.

Coldshot:
We didn't mean to leave you hanging, but given the amount of information you provided it's difficult for anyone to give you any more meaningful advise. None of us were around when you're trouble happened.
As I suggested, if you experiment with some empty cases (and be **sure** they are empty) maybe you can duplicate what happen again. And if it does happen and you're watching you may spot what's going on. There are many people on the forum who have years of experience, but none of it will help if you can't come up with some more clues.

Your description is confusing. There is a substantial rim on the 44mag. For it to have "slipped through the ejector" would mean the dimentions would have to be WAY off. You also say it has happened with 22 lr revolvers, there too dimensions would have to be WAY off. A photo would help or accurate dimensions if you have the micrometers. It's a mystery.

Ok Thanks anyways.
I may send it to Taurus for further inspection.:(
Yep, I have had it happen with rimfires a New England Firearms Ultra 22lr DA revolver.

Hi, Coldshot,
I am puzzled. You say you fired the gun twice, but then the rim of a round slipped between the extractor and the cylinder. While that sometimes happens in extracting, I can't imagine how you could get the cylinder closed if it happened in loading, or how it could happen in firing.
Can you provide more info, as something is missing here about the situation.

Nope nothing missing here. I fired two rounds. Tried for a third but nothing happened. "Click" I thought that it might have been a dud round. So, I checked and there it was stuck in between the cylinder and extractor. I figure that it was the Winchester White Box ammo> Rim Diameter to small. I have heard other people say that they have been getting bad ammo "WWB from Wally World". I havent had this problem with the PMC ammo or the higher quailty Winchester SilverTips.

What Jim said...
Plus;
If the cylinder would rotate with a rim under the star....the headspace must be awful.
If story complete...
Gun broke.

No everything looks fine. I may send it back to Taurus and let them look at it.;)
I believe that it might be the Ammo. Winchester White Box. As mentioned earlier the PMCs run fine.
