[Kentucky Rifle]

I've put off a full size 1911 WAY too long. A fellow (and 1911 collector) at Surefire who I was talking to yesterday told me that the new S&W 1911 was REALLY nice, but the Springfield "Mil-Spec" is the one to go for. So, I'm thinking along those lines.
The other one is a HK "P7". I seem to vacillate. Single stacks seem top heavy, but sure do look nice. I'll check them out at the big gun show next month.
Last (maybe) is that titanium Beretta Tomcat. Yeah, I know. They actually weigh MORE than the stainless models~but boy! Are they EVER nice looking. I think that'll come pretty close to rounding out the semi-automatic portion of my collection.
I actually thougt I had enough autos until I called Surefire and got the only person who collects 1911's. I'm a weak man.:D

P7, Teutonic Wundebal Craftsmanship at it's finest. Other than the fact that the magazines are made by a guy named Hans who hand forges them out of unobtanium mined from the upper alltitudes of the Alps and they are hard to find and expensive it is an absolutely wonderful handgun. Truely nothing like it.

I think every gun nut needs a 1911 especially a mil-spec one but they will be around for quite some time me suspects. The P7, however. Grab one while you can.

As for the Tomcat, they are cute and make a neat little anytime gun but they will never live up the satisfaction of owning either of your first two choices.

Let me know and I will let Hans know that he needs to get cracking on some more magazines. He has been thinking about buying another Mercedes and your support would be appreciated.

Of the 3 guns you've mentioned, my P7M8 is my fave. I'd like another to complement it, but at $1200+, I've set my sights on a P2000 :cool:

P7s aren't top heavy. They have less "top" than most any 9mm.

SPE~ I can't help it. The last P7 I held seemed top heavy. I'm going to the gun shop in a little while. I'll hold another one and see how it feels.

Chris~Do you have ANY idea how many times I've came back to your picture? Using webtv, it's difficult to see, so is yours the model with the "heel clip" that holds in the magazine? I realize that I'm in the minority, but I like the heel clip over the push-button magazine release.<shrug> Ken Lunde has posted photos of one or two (OR three) of his P7's which he's had hard chromed. (Or NP3'd.) THEY REALLY look nice. How about it Ken? Put up another one! I NEED a "P7 fix"! :) Maybe put a single stack next to a double stack. I'm right about that, aren't I? The two versions are available aren't they??

The P7 is truly a unique design. There's literally nothing else like it anywhere on the market. If you can get used to the manual of arms, it's the very best 9mm carry gun ever made.

P7s are very "butt-heavy", which is why proper holster design is important when carrying a Kraut Staplegun. Most of the pistol's mass rides above the beltline. With a good holster, however, it is an excellent carry combination. There are damn few guns that are safer and faster into action than a P7.
