Is there a website or book that gives info about the physical characteristics of smokeless powder? I am looking at info geared specifically at whether it is ball, flake, cylindrical and etc.
Thanks.

what powder are you refering to. Alot of us can tell you what the powder looks like by personal experience. Just as quick as opening a cabinet and unscrewing the top.

Some of the manufacturers are not too forthcoming.
Accurate Arms says which is what.
Hodgdon identifies their Spherical (Ball process) powders. The other rifle powders are extruded, the Clays family is all flake.
IMR powders listed IMR or SR are extruded, 700X, 800X, PB, and Trail Boss are flake.
Vihtavouri powders I have seen are all extruded.
Alliant powders from 2400 up through the Reloder series are extruded, pistol and shotgun powders are flake.
Ramshot powders are all ball process.
Winchester powders are all Ball.
