Years ago during the cold war era, all you had to do to ruin a person's life or eleminate any credibillity they had was "accuse" them of being a comunist...

Many of us though that insanity ended with the cold war...
But Guess what, it seems to have returned with the fatefull events of 9/11...

Today, in many countrys you can be accused of being a terrorist for nearly everything imagineable, and laws such as the patriot act and other equivalents give goverments new emense powers to strip us of what little rights we might have had left...

Examples:

UK post 9/11: a US Citizen was arrested at an International airport because his checked luggage had a bullet (left over from a hunting trip he had been on a few months before) stuck in a un noticeable spot in a suitcase.

To my knowlege he was deported and forbiddon from returing to the uk.
I have no link for this, but it was the BBC that inittaly reported it.
---------------------------------------------------------
Ricently a man was not allowed to board a British Airways flight due to a lapel button that said "suspected terrorist".
----------------------------------------------------------
USA: Patriot Act and Son of the Patriot Act

Need I say more?
----------------------------------------------------------
RIAA and MPIA Saying that people who use file sharing software are Terroists, and trying to get laws passed to make Users of file shareing software Oficcaly Labled as "Terrorists'.

to my knowlege this fell through...
----------------------------------------------------------
US: Man given 1 year in Jail for having a link to a web site with information on Making Bombs.
http://www.eff.org/br/20030807_eff_pr.php
----------------------------------------------------------

There is way to much to ever list, but a good quntaty of it can be found here
http://www.eff.org/issues/anti-terrorism/

so, what are your views? Is Terrorism the Replacement "excuse" for Comunisim?

Their commie rat :cuss: lives weren't ruined. In fact, all but one of those pinkos are still breathing my oxygen. :banghead:

I've seen reports of a DA in NC(I think) who is using anti-terrorism laws against drug makers, by saying a meth lab is a chemical weapons factory, so he could get a far higher punishment (something to do with the buildup of flammable vapors being equivalent to a bomb).

Regardless of what you think of methamphetamine manufacturers, you have to be concerned when a law is misused. The true test of any law is not the good it does, but the evil that can be done under it.

Already we've seen the definition of terrorism expand dramatically from "acts of violence directed toward the accomplishment of defined political goals" to "anything that makes us skeered, and don't forget about the cheeeeeldren."

Duncan Idaho,

What Zedicus was referring to was McCarthyism.

Zedicus, 9/11 notwithstanding, governments already had powerful tools to strip us of our rights.
