Glock 29 Opinions?
CZF

Besides CZs, Glock are the only handguns that i'm interested in.
I've owned most models- excepting the 10mms.
Would like to hear from you G29 shooters. How does the recoil of the
G29 compare to the G30? I'm wondering if the G29 grip will be too short,
even with the grip extension??
Show me your Glock 10mms.

Recoil isn't too much worse than a 30 with most factory stuff. I find these days, I prefer to shoot without the grip extention. For some reason the mags with grip extensions attached pinch my hand painfully. The short grip does not bother me at all but that is completely personal taste. I know a guy that it bugs the Hell out of.

I have both and the recoil is about the same!!! ;)
The only thing I hate about the 10mm is the cost of the ammo!! Even off the internet, by the time you add shipping, it still comes out to about $20/box!! I converted my G29 to 10mm kurz!!! :D

For inexpensive 10mm ammo, ...
... try Georgia Arms. 1000rd case of 180gn FMJ = $190, or $9.50 per 50rds. Great practice load, reliable with decent accuracy.
GA's "premium" defensive loads use the Gold Dot HPs, 155gns & 180gns. This is factory "new" ammo. I've shot both loads, and both are very accurate. $13.75 for 50rds; $260 for a 1000rd case.

Of course, this assumes you're willing to take some risks...
:what:
- like obtaining a valid credit card, having access to a phone, possibly using the internet and, ultimately, accepting the fact that UPS will deliver the ammo directly to your doorstep. :D

My G29 goes everywhere with me. I have approx. 3500 rounds thru it without a single hiccup.
You can also get Federal Arms drop-in barrels in .40 and 357sig. The G29 is 3 guns in one!

I had a G-29, but sold it. The grip is not long enough and the bottom of the grip rests in my palm about an inch above the bottom of my hand and in the middle of my palm. After about 50 rounds my hand would be red and sore where the point of the butt gouges my palm. I think that the G-20/G-21 is perfect because it is long enough so that my whole hand absords the recoil not one point.

I think that my 1911 Officer's has similar recoil to my G29. Thus, the more powerful G29 rides IWB with me everyday.

Got G29 and G30.
Mag extension helps with both. G29 with Agrip is just a little more comfortable, but Agrip slows down mag changes for me. Both accurate, G29 a little more so. Easy to carry, reliable. Good fighting pistol. A little more recoil than G30 but less muzzle flip, works out to about the same.

With many online places, if you order in bulk shipping is free. Try ammoman.com.
Georgia Arms ammo is top notch, but I've only used about 100 rounds of their stuff so far (tried their .41 Mag and .45 Colt; good stuff!)

Comparing the G30 with standard 230gr ball ammo and a G29 with 10mm Win 175 gr hollow points, the G29 has noticably more recoil. It isn't painful but it moves my hands quite a bit more than the G30 with the standard loads. A better comparison would be some hot .45 defensive loads to the 10mm Win 175 gr hollow points. But, I seldom shoot .45 defensive loads.

I've been considering one of these babies as well. Given the Glock's frame size, it is just big enough to swallow the federally mandated new magazine size limit. If I recall correctly, the M29's barrel is only about 0.8" shorter than the M20's, does anyone know the ballistic impact of this? I just can't see picking up the larger one and then having to buy $150 magazines so that all that extra size isn't wasted. :)
A side note: I see that the sight raidous is almost 6". That's pretty good for a "small" pistol....almost the same a 5" 1911 w standard (non-Novak style) sights.

"...What is the cost with shipping???"
:rolleyes:
Well, ... checking my last order from GA, ... I see:
* $190 for 1000rds of 10mm 180gn ammo;
* $12.95 for shipping ... (Okay, let's call it $13.00)
total = $203.
Now divide that total by 20 "boxes" of 50 rds, and you get a "per box" average of $10.15 with shipping.
That's hardly "$20/box." :scrutiny:
HTH. :)

I have the 29, great little package. I have the grip extensions(Pearce) on all three of my mags. I find it more comfortable to shoot with the Extensions. It was not hard to shoot without, but I feel I control the gun a bit better w/extensions.
I do not find it a recoil monster at all, suprisingly same or less than my H&K, and Kimber Pro carry with hot .45 loads. I find the CCI Blazer 200gr 10mm ammo to have the most muzzle flip, less than the 1200-1300fps 165-180 grainers I prefer.
I competed in a local single stack match a few weeks back, first comp ever, did not even have any mag holders for the Delta. i was the only 10mm guy, took lots of heat about recoil, I can get 3 shots off to your 1, etc., etc.
I managed to come in 29th out of 41, even beat some of the 1911 9mm guys, I guess this has nothing to do with the 29, but I find the 29 to be as controllable as my Delta and Razorback. I will continue to do comps, maybe IDPA next, and will use the 29.
