Where are you guys getting your .45 ACP now?

I've never ordered .45 online before, as I've found good deals on cases at gun shows up to this point, so I don't know who has the best deals out there. I did some browsing, hoping to find some brass-cased reloadable ammo at 300/case, but about 340 was the best I could find. Is this about right, or am I not looking hard enough?

I can't offer anything but to say I am currently reloading all my .45 acp now.
I tried some Wolf and it didn't work out anywhere near as well as hoped for.

I will be, too, once I move out of my small apartment and into a house in August. That's part of the reason I want reloadable brass, to add to the 1500 pieces that I've already saved up.
Also, thanks for the link C&R!

Buy what you can at the best price now. Prices keep going up. Same applies to reloading components. Start buying now.

The WalMart near me still has 100 packs of Winchester White Box for under $30. I just bought 500 the other day.

Yeah, I know, that's the plan. I've just haven't looked around for .45 in a few months, wasn't sure what the going price was.

Tonight I was reloading .38 spl. w/ 148 gn. wadcutters. Next I've got several thousand tumbled .45ACP brass . . . just waiting for me to pop in Federal 150 primers and start reloading a fresh batch of ammo.
Keep all your brass, unless you are shooting a gun with an unsupported barrel (such as a Glock) that wears out brass real fast. You don't want a Glock "ka-boom" . . . it makes 'em look distorted and funny and is hell on the magazines.
That being said, and again unless you are shooting with a stock Glock barrel, you can use lead bullets for your reloads and they are really cheap vs. FMJ and hollowpoints.
For most handgun calibers, a pound of Unique, some primers, some lead bullets (which you can even make yourself if you REALLY want to hold your costs down) and a modest press will allow you to shoot a whole lot more and still save bunch of money!
Shootin' a lot and saving money . . . two things I really like to do!

I get all my .45 from my basement via a Dillon 550 and a Lee Pro 1000 depending on the load I am building at the time.

There was a guy selling cases of Federal American Eagle for $299 at the Harrisburg (PA) gun show a few months ago.

Handload. Commercially loaded ammo is going to stay stashed until there's a need for it.

I've only been shooting for 3 years, but I knew from the beginning that I would reload some day. So, I saved all of my cases.
This summer I started to reload .45acp, .38 special, and .357. Wally World won't be getting any more of my ammo money.

Heh... I bought 500 rounds that is, to complement the 500 of Federal HST I keep, but I feel like a wannabe next to M2 carbine's stash. I like to have 1K rounds for each of my guns, but Mr. Carbine is way over that count!
I may be overreacting on the bulk ammunition, but it sure is nice to have a room in your house that looks like a gun store. Now if only I could find cheap .45 Colt that didn't make my gun look like it had been through a war after a dozen rounds... The 9mm and .45 are easy to stockpile!

My .45acp ammo comes from a blue Akro-Bin and it costs me $88.60/1000 rounds...
The blue Akro-Bin is attached to my Lee Pro-1000 press.

MidwayUSA by the case @ $289.79. That's $.289 per round.
Include gas, time and trouble that competes with Walmart White Box very well.

Could I get a link GingerGuy? The cheapest MagTech I can find on Midway is 320/case and out of stock.
I'm a big fan of the Magtech when it comes to cheap practice ammo.
Thanks for the help, everybody, even the "I get mine from my press" people. It just makes me look forward to starting my own reloading in August. One more case should be enough to get me through til then.
