What on Earth is he thinking? Can he not win with the other Republicans running?

No, he can't win. The polls I've seen show him in the low single digits, somewhere around 4%. He's behind Tom McClintock, whom everyone says can't win, with around 5%.

I will confirm he will be withdrawing in the interest of the Republican Party," the spokesman said in a telephone interview.

This is good. Republicans in Kalif. need to decide if voting for the "right" person is better than having the Democrats retain control of the governors office. Throwing a vote away on this election is not a good idea, it'll be an important state to have in Republican hands next year when Bush runs.

Simon was bought off by Bush and Co. Next step will have McClintock quite the race to spend more time with his family.

Bush smells the chance of taking California out of the democrat camp for '04. He will not be stopped.

Yes, this is a good thing.

Uberoth is a non-issue.

Yes, there's going to be pressure on McClintock to bow out but let's hope to God he resists. Davis has something planned for Ahnuld, supposedly right after labor day. Agricola may have it pegged right: Davis' team has maybe pinned down serious "sexual harassment issues".

That opens it up for McClintock, CLEARLY the best candidate of the lot.

Jim, I like the way you're thinking. We don't need any more millionaire-anointed corporate politicians of the Wilson-Davis ilk running things any more. I doubt if I agree with a lot of McClintock's other positions, but I could live with him and a Dem legislature.

Unfortunately, if I'm on his side, he's almost certainly a lost cause...

McClintock has credibility as a true fiscal conservative. If he can get THAT message out, he'll win.

The question is, how much money will he have?

The GOP money is so far going to Ahnuld. If Ahnuld does a crash'n'burn, that could change.

So basically Davis is going to pull the stunt he did to Riordan. Smear him until he can't get enough votes. If this happens I hope McClintock has a chance being that Davis is a slimeball with a bunch of money.

All indications are that McClintock really is clean. He's among the most honest people who have ever held office in Sacramento.

I really like McClintock. He's been on a local radio station for the last two months and has very good ideas. His speech on 2nd ammendment rights is a must read for all citizens of the US. I think that he needs to become a part of The Austrian's campaign and administration and run in 2006. He would have my vote but we can't afford to be split. Bustamyright's going to have every union member and dem voting for him. There needs to be a strong candidate against him even if he's a Rino. YMMV. If you live in Kali and read this board, VOTE! either way.

No, he couldn't have one. He would have just diluted votes. The only problem is that his name will still be on the ballot. My initial impression is that Simon has taken one for the team to help oust Davis.

This recall is NOT about Bush in 2004. This recall IS about the crappy situation that the government of this state has managed to get us into... and how the government is going to get us out WITHOUT making US bend over and take it.

I just wish Flynt would start his campaigning and make everyone see that McClintock is really the only GOOD choice for governor-- even if that is by the lack of McClintock's presence in Flynt's ads.

Davis really is a dirty politician. He campaigns dirty, he legislates dirty, he "governs" dirty, and he raises so much money he's filthy, let alone filthy rich because of it.

We really need to skim the scum from Cessifornia... Davis should be the first layer, the Dem legislature and morons the likes of Feinstein are the next. Bush be damned, we need to get our state heading back in the right direction.

BTW, any other Californians notice that Feinstein's focus in her support for Davis/"challenge" for Schwarzenegger was the gun issue? Talk about a one-trick pony. Here's some more equestrian colloquialisms WRT Feinstein: Let's put her out to pasture. Beat a dead horse. Horseface.

It's my bedtime. :scrutiny:
