Anyone know a cheap source for batteries for the surefire 618F 870 Shotgun light? I have such a light on my shotgun and would like to get spare batteries for it.
Also, would anyone recommend upgrading the 618F to something better? Let me read your thoughts on this, thank you.

Dunno about the shotgun light, but I have a G2 that takes the 3V lithium batteries. I just got two at Wal-mart (in the electronics dept.) for ten bucks.

Also be sure to sign up for their newsletter as they have lots of specials. Their batteries usually run about $1.15 each in lots of 20. plus shipping.

Look up Botach in the Feedback forum. They have a hit-or-miss reputation for service. Its not that they're trying to shaft you, they're just inept. I have never had a problem with them, but I make sure I keep my orders simple. I order one thing...if its in stock, it ships. If its out of stock, its out of stock.
What seems to happen is people order a whole slew of stuff, and their order sits for 2 months waiting on one Widget, Left Hand, Black Basketweave. Then they call and get the runaround.
YMMV

I've gotten them through Botach. 20 batteries for $25+shipping (works out to around $32, as i recall).
I've since seem them go on sale for 5 dollars less, but i don't need any more, yet :)
The only problem i had was that i ordered the 'Surefire' batteries, which were out of stock, so i was given the Panasonic batteries, instead. Identical product, but i was trying to buy American.
A word of caution about Botach: If an item isn't in stock, DO NOT order it from them. Concepts like 'backorder' are beyond their collective grasp, it would seem.

Anyone know a cheap source for batteries for the surefire 618F 870 Shotgun light?
The forend light comes with the (SF223AC) - 6 Volt Lithium Battery
Contains (2) 3-volt SF123A Lithium batteries electrically connected within a plastic sleeve and separated by a fiber load washer to protect against cell-to-cell pounding during recoil.
These are $15 on Surefire's website. I don't have experience with one of these lights so can't say wether 2 regular lithiums would do the job safely. If it is a HD gun I would think the batteries wouldn't get much use and it would be worth the cost of the SF223AC.
BTW I just ordered 2 boxes of 12 from Surefire for $30.00 plus $4.99 shipping. Ordered this past week, due to arrive this Tuesday.

Try to find a US made lithium primary cell. Maybe US owned, but not made in the US.
The Sanyo CR123A's are the best going. The Duracell's are repackaged cells they purchase from Sanyo. I'm not certain who Surefire is buying from these days.
The battery business is a twisted birds nest of who makes cells for whom under different packaging. There are very few premium battery manufacturers out there.
Anything around $2.00 for a 123A is a decent price. There are cheaper, but you get what you pay for.

Yes, I need to either buy 3volt lith batteries and tape them together, or get a 6 volt. I am not sure if those other sources can be of use to me.
Would this be the type of lithium battery used in their 618F light where they cram 2 together? http://botachtactical.com/sur3vollitba.html

YEP (http://www.surefire.com/cgi-bin/main/co_disp/displ/prrfnbr/330/sesent/0,0) those are the ones. If you are going to try putting two together (not that I would recomend it) any of the 3v lithiums should work as well.

2 things here...
1) Nonbox, couldn't you have provided a little more information?:D
2) Panasonic makes lithium batterys in good ol' Columbus, GA. I presume they make CR123A's there.

Oh, you want more information. Here you go:
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=UBB6
This is a link to a flashlight forum with a battery forum.
Run a search on Surefire batteries. There are a lot of new dead SF123 batteries reported.
Fortunately, cheaper prices does not = low quality. If you research the flashlight forum you will find that there are many high quality low cost batteries.
