Hi I am looking at a gas operated gun to shoot sporting clays and doves. I have a choice between a Browning 2000 and the Browning Gold Hunter. The gold hunter has screw in chokes and is newer, but also costs more. Any comments appreciated. Thanks Mac. I like o/u's but the gas guns are much easier on my aging shoulder.

Both are gas operated. The B2000 has been out of production for some time and it is difficult to find parts.

Encoreman,
What are the prices on the B2000 and the Gold Hunter that you are looking at?
BTW, I've heard that parts are readily available for the B2000 from a midwestern gun parts supply dealer. I don't recall the name at the moment, but I could get if for you if you want it.
EDIT: Apparently there are two places (I think) that have parts for the B2000. Jeff's Outfitters and Midwest Shooters Supply supposedly have barrels, stocks, parts, etc for the B2000 at "very low prices". I haven't confirmed this, but it's what I read on another gun discussion board.

All Browning Gold shotguns are gas-operated. I have a Gold Fusion and I'm very happy with it.
The Browning gas system does not use any O-rings, like some competitor's shotguns. It's really a very simple, effective, and robust system.

I have a gold hunter and cannot complain about it. I admit I am no expert when it comes to shotguns but my browning has taken game and busted a fair number of clays and done so without any real issues.
