Carrying my bersa alot, thinking about dehorning

Anyone think this is a bad/good idea. I've been grabbing my bersa as my carry gun frequently because I make alot of short trips and I can just clip it on. I also know I can place shots and that it will function. However, its got some horns on it. I was thinking that it would cost more than the gun to get it dehorned. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Yes dehorning this pistol could run you more than the original investment. But that's true of more expensive pistols as well.

As you know, this is one true shootin' little handgun and one could easily invest at least the original cost in custom work.

But, this being a device you put your life in trust of, is that necessarily such a bad thing?

MJRW,

Have you done any other mods? What is available? Last I heard there were no aftermarket grips. Night sights?

When you say you clip it on -- are you using a universal clip draw or the like?

I've found nothing readily available, I think I may talk to a smith and see what they can do for putting some mepros on or something of that nature and for doing something about dehorning it. I may carve grips myself as a project. Also going to investigate making the single action trigger a bit nicer. I figure I like it enough, and its cheap if I F it up so I can replace it pretty easily. I'm using a DeSantis Stealth holster. The bersa fits very nicely in it. Just a touch loose, but nothing that worries me. I may sew up the elastic a bit to tighten it up.

Why don't you try dehorning it yourself? The worst that can happen is that it looks bad.

What type of "horns" do you have? I have a model 23 and the only thing that is sharp is the rear sight.

Have your considered adding night sights or having it engraved as well? Hard chroming? Probably not.

More than likely, Firestar is right. For what it would cost you to dehorn your gun, you could try doing it yourself and if you mess up, just buy a new one and you would still come out ahead.
