Gun Juice v. Militec...Which is Better?

Both appear to be simply lubricants and both require heating the steel prior to application (hair dryer or oven). Gun Juice (http://www.microlon.com/engine_treatment_faq.php?PHPSESSID=cph2lnq6e6ac15n0da8sn3dnd7), however, claims to be a "one-time" treatment for guns and engines. I'm not sure Militec makes the same claim. Anyway, which is better?

Thanks!

I heard that some of the experienced gun doctors are recommending Mobile 1 Synthetic engine oil, 5w30 for lubing guns. The claim is that the troops in the sand box are also using it. Don't know if it is true. I haven't tried it yet myself.

I've always liked Militec, I use their grease. It doesn't evaporate or drain down to the muzzle when the gun is in the holster like some lubes do and it stays put on any surface it's applied to. I did the apply and heat thing. Don't know if that really works but I do know I've used it on all my pistols and they all run as smooth as silk and seem easier to keep clean.
I highly recommend it.

I do however really like Mobil-1 in my cars' engine.

I use Militec for lube EEZOX for a protectant.

I haven't tried gun juice yet, I actually have a bottle on the way, though. The main reason I'm interested is for the improvements in muzzle velocity. I'll let you know what I think when I get it and use it.

I heard that some of the experienced gun doctors are recommending Mobile 1 Synthetic engine oil, 5w30 for lubing guns.I suspect any grade of M1 would be appropriate as a firearms lubricant, considering the operating conditions of a typical handgun vs. those of an internal combustion engine. :)

In other words, you can use 5W30, 0W40, etc. - shouldn't make any difference.

Gun Juice is Miracle stuff- all the hype IS true! And it's also excellent for coating the inside of dies....noticably less friction.
I haven't tried the Militec yet, but heard great things there also. :scrutiny:And 16 oz. cost the same as 4 oz. of Microlon Gun Juice.
Should we add DriSlide to the mix? :confused:Haven't tried it either....yet.

Lube tests I performed some time ago.

I was not at all impressed with Militec as a lubricant.

+1.

While I prefer the M1 20w50 (VTWIN), I'd be willing to bet that your suspicion is most likely true.

Well, I don't think they've both crap.

I really like the militec.

I used the grease in my mossberg, and the regular stuff in my kimber.

The actions were noticeably slicker, and smoother.

I got bored and put some in the movement of my folding knives, too.

Good stuff, in my opinion.

+1 - or any fully synthetic. You don't need any thing else (except grease for those weapons that require that)

I did a bit of a CLP test starting a year ago "Gun Juice" wasn't part of it but you can read my thoughts on Militec 1 in this thread (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=281953). I just recently posted a 1 year update on cleaning/lubrication.

Ah, yes, I recall that thread. I tried getting some Gun Shield through MidwayUSA, but they're always out of it and the cost of the stuff via the manufacturer is a bit high. I've also got so much Militec-1 that I just don't think it will be a big improvement. After all, I've got all stainless guns, so I don't have to sweat...well...sweat. I'm fairly non-corrosive.

ATF works pretty good too. One can could last the rest of your life.

Experimenting some with Mobil1 15W-50 and also mixed half & half with Marvel Mystery Oil.
B'rer Bill is trying his Mobil1 mixed half & half w/Lucas Engine Oil Stabilizer, which clings to parts best so far.
Will try to update in a few weeks,if thread is still alive.

P.S. Hadn't thought of ATF....
