Wow first of all is what i have to say.

Went shooting today took my brother in law and one of my boys. I dont know if we made the right decision. It was probably around 105 at the range. Needless to say i feel like i am seeing stars still. Took 4 bp guns, 1 cva 50 cal, 1 30-30.

After shooting the 50 cal it felt like i was shooting a 22 when i was shooting the 30-30. As for the black powder guns. 2 1851's shot like the wind. So did the 1860. The Walker i really need to change those nipples. Shot one cylinder and then i just switched to my R&D cylinder. Shooting straight black powder was just too much trouble. Caps would not go off. Then pieces always seem to get into the works. Yep i really need to change those nipples. Shooting 45 long colt was such a blast though. I actually unscrewed the loading lever and took it off. then i would load up 6 bullets and shoot. then pull the wedge out and repeat. Only thing that held me back after a while was the barrel getting hot. After a couple hours. My son and brother n law just pulled out the 30-30 and continued to shoot that until it started getting rather warm too. When i used to shoot smokeless 30-30 that rifle was totally dialed in. I did shoot around 5 rounds through it. Thats when it felt like i was shooting a 22. We were shooting steel at 100 yards. I can still sit there and shoot round after round hitting steel with that rifle. My son wants me to experiment and try to load some black powder rounds for the 30-30. Im not too sure if we should though. As i have only ever shot smokeless through that rifle. Im not too sure how cleaning would be on it. Then im not too sure if i would be able to get out all the residue from black powder. So im up on the air on that. So well i did clean one gun so far. As for the others i think im going to wait until it cools down out here before i start cleaning the rest. That and i guess i need to drink a lot more water right now. If you guys go shooting out there be carefull this heat is really bad.

It was and still is Hot! Did alot of hydrating today, H2O cocktails for about 5 hours and a few.
Tested two new Rems both 1858 Rem NMA. First one I loaded up wad Sassy that Blond SS European Euroarms Rev. . Used 25gr of fffg and a Lee molded .457" ball, the chambers have chamfer if you will, to allow about .007" beveled edge that not only allows the ball to sit well and also make a nice .002" aprox swedge ring. The cylinder walls are not smooth as one would expect, but very fine lines ringing down the chamber. Hard to explain kinda looks like this only very fine and very shallow, also very close together "()))))". Sassy took me by surprise on the first couple shots. The Action and trigger are so smooth you'd think it had a trigger job. Not a hair trigger but lighter that the norm. Anyway she shot great hit some paper and water filled targets(Pics to follow next page)Wait for um I have a few.
Now to Barbie a very hot brunette that has more fast curves than the Indy 500. I loaded her up with the same load 25gr fffg .457 Lee Molded ball. I used CCI Caps on both Revs. CCI10's at first but had to dowel seat them (use a stick). Then after a couple cylinders went to CCI11's squeezed um a bit and they stayed on. Action on Barbie is stiffer and the hammer position seems to go back farther than the norm ant full cock isn't that much farther back. Love both Rems had to get both and knew it, I hate it when I do that...HeeHeeHee!
Both shot groups they were right in the quadrant at 40ft, not high or left or right...I had a couple flyers but that's exected. And killed many Carnation Creamer Bottles (Lg Ones) and 1gal Milk bottles converted to water bottles from 25-75Yds.
My Friend and his Brother, and a young friend of the Club/family were there also Crash (friends name)Brought a .45 Hand made by a friend of ours(Bill Passed) and finally shot it after ten years of me trying to get him out to the damn range.LoL! It has a set trigger that ain't quite set right, trigger bar(set) that trips the sear hit it too much too early or which ever..[Wayne will need to talk to you about this one Anyway His first shot with it ever nailed a 1gal water jug at 75yds poof. Was he ever happy. He shot a few more and ask me to shoot it. So I loaded 50gr fffg, a strip of Moose’s milk soak pillow tickin', stuck a .440" ball on the cloth in the barrel hit it with a short starter, short rammed it, pulled it' long stick out an rammed it home. Cocked, capped, took careful aim at a target of acquisition, and touched the hair trigger...Thaaawaaack! Poooof! A dead center shot at 75yds. That helped me cause I didn't think I still had it to day. The heat got to me but that shot and the look on Crash's face told me I was fine...Heehaw!
The Brother had my Pietta Rem I Got from Cabelas 5 yrs ago, smoothed it out, he was leavin sold it. and He had a Brass Pietta dang I was surprised them are nice.
Anyway we all had fun and another great day at the range.
