A bird in the hand- - - - - - - -

What it boils down to is a gamble. You can wait until the others have it in stock, but they may price it as much or more than LSB.

Yer tellin' me...Tried all of the above.

Tells you what a great powder Varget is, don't it?

I found a local shop with 1# bottles for $20 and bought a couple. Hurts, but when in need...

I guess I got lucky, I ordered 2 8lb Varget, 3 1lb HS-6 from Cabalaes about a month ago and got them in 2 days. Order 1 8lb VV 140 from powdervalley and got that one too. :):)

my local shop always seems to have varget in $16 a lb if I buy 10.

i called suppliers and they had no clue.

i just got off phone iwth hodgdon. they said powder is mfg in australia, demand has far exceeded forecasts, and the mfg had a 3-week shutdown. they aren't expecting any more varget in until early august! :what::eek:

If you haven't tried it...Reloder 15 is a good powder too, for heavy bullets that is. I use it and AA2230 more than any other powder...2230 for light bullets, Reloder 15 for the heavies.

I'm not trying to replace your favorite...just offering a substitute of sorts.

yep, i use R15 in 308 and have been through 32 lbs of 2230c. they're good powders.

the varget is for my service rifle, and i just don't want to change loads a month and a week before camp perry, which is end of july.

i'll just buy a 1 lb can locally to get me through, then stock up in august, i guess.

Develop satisfactory alternative powder loads in other brands and you won't have to suffer this again. Find a similar powder on the chart and work up a load.

Is varget a hot ticket for loading for an rra national match rifle?
